Today, August 17th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region saw an increase in the domestic market, with paddy prices rising by 50-100 VND/kg, while export rice prices remained high.

The rice market in localities across the Mekong Delta region today generally sees slower purchasing power from warehouses, with warehouses offering lower prices.

Specifically, in An Cu ( Soc Trang ), transactions are stable, warehouses are buying slowly, prices are stable, and there is little high-quality rice. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), warehouses are buying quite well, prices are stagnant, and there is little high-quality rice, remaining high. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), there is a shortage of rice, warehouses are buying regularly, and market prices are slowing down.

At retail markets, rice prices remained unchanged for individual rice varieties. Currently, Nang Nhen rice is listed at the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice at 18,000 – 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 20,000 VND/kg; regular white rice fluctuating around 15,000 – 16,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at 20,000 – 21,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; common white rice at 17,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,500 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice at 20,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,000 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, local authorities have observed an increase in the price of dried glutinous rice, with strong demand and high prices. Warehouses continue to demand for Dai Thom rice, but traders are slow to release their stock, resulting in high prices. In Can Tho, farmers are offering a lot of rice for sale, but transactions are slow. In An Giang, rice prices are stable, and supply remains limited. In Kien Giang , rice prices are also stable, with many traders inquiring about purchases, mainly buying rice close to the harvest date.

Specifically, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. IR 50404 rice is priced around 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg, an increase of 300 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice is priced at 8,400 – 8,500 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice is priced at 8,000 – 8,200 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is priced at 8,500- 8,700 VND/kg, an increase of 200 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is priced from 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800 – 8,000 VND/kg and Nang Nhen (dried) rice is at 20,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the glutinous rice market showed no adjustments compared to yesterday. IR 4625 glutinous rice (fresh) remained stable at 7,800 – 7,900 VND/kg compared to yesterday. An Giang glutinous rice (fresh) remained unchanged at 7,000 – 7,200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. Specifically, raw IR 504 summer-autumn rice rose to 11,750 – 11,900 VND/kg, an increase of 50-100 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice remained at 13,850 – 13,900 VND/kg, also an increase of 50-100 VND/kg.

By-product prices today remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is at 9,500 – 9,600 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran remains at 7,200 – 7,300 VND/kg.

On the export market, Vietnamese rice export prices have been adjusted compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice is priced at US$440/ton; standard 5% broken rice is priced at US$575/ton, an increase of US$5; and 25% broken rice is priced at US$539/ton.
