Steel prices on the exchange
Rebar on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) for March 2026 delivery rose 2 yuan to 3,092 yuan/t.
Iron ore futures continued to rise as market sentiment improved after Chinese officials called for curbing low-price competition among domestic firms.
The most-traded iron ore contract for September delivery on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) rose 1.03 percent to 735.5 yuan ($102.65) a tonne.
In Singapore, the benchmark iron ore contract for August delivery rose 0.11% to $96.55 a tonne, marking a 2.4% gain for the week.
China’s Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission has called for stricter measures to curb dumping among companies, raising expectations of a new round of supply-side reforms in the overcapacity steel sector. This could improve the industry’s profit margins and increase its ability to absorb higher prices for raw materials such as iron ore, analysts say.

Viet Sing Steel, with CB240 coil steel, is priced at VND13,690/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel is priced at VND13,580/kg.
