Nguyen Hoang Street is degraded, the road surface is narrow, and can no longer meet the increasing traffic volume. |
Meet people's expectations
Nguyen Hoang Street is an important traffic axis connecting Nguyen Hoang Bridge to residential areas north of Huong River, passing through areas that used to belong to Huong Long, Kim Long, Long Ho wards (old) which have now been merged into Kim Long ward (new) according to the Project to adjust administrative boundaries of Hue City.
However, this route has been degraded for many years, the road surface is narrow, no longer able to meet the increasing traffic volume. People in the area always look forward to a large-scale renovation and upgrading project, not only to facilitate travel, but also to contribute to changing the urban appearance of the northern part of the city.
Mr. Nguyen Lan, a resident living on Nguyen Hoang Street, shared: “The expansion of Nguyen Hoang Street is something that people have been waiting for for a long time. Although we know that the construction will affect our daily lives, everyone is happy to see the road expanded, spacious, clean and beautiful.”
According to records, many households along Nguyen Hoang Street are ready to work with local authorities to create the best conditions for the project to start on schedule. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quyen, Deputy Director of the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, informed: The Nguyen Hoang Street expansion project has a total investment of more than 100 billion VND, with the Hue City People's Committee as the investor. The unit is currently urgently completing the procedures for selecting a construction contractor to ensure the project starts in August 2025 as planned.
According to the design, the route is upgraded to the standard of a main urban street, with a design speed of 60km/h. The route is more than 1km long, starting at the roundabout north of Nguyen Hoang bridge, ending at the intersection of Ly Nam De street (Kim Long ward). The cross-section of the route is expanded to 43m, including 6 car lanes, 3 lanes in each direction, a 5m wide median strip, and 8.5m wide sidewalks on both sides.
One of the highlights of the project is the construction of a new An Ninh Ha bridge across the Bach Yen River to replace the old and degraded existing bridge. The new bridge is nearly 57m long and 43m wide, designed in sync with Nguyen Hoang Street, meeting the requirements of aesthetics, safety and operational capacity for both people and vehicles.
The entire route is invested in a synchronous technical infrastructure system including: water supply, drainage, lighting, trees, and a modern traffic safety system. This not only ensures synchronization, but also contributes to building the image of a modern, civilized, and environmentally friendly urban area.
Important link of Ring Road 3
Not only is it a route serving the travel needs of local people, Nguyen Hoang Street also has strategic significance in the traffic development planning of Hue City. This is an important component of the city's Ring Road 3 - a route with a total length of 6.5km, starting from the intersection of National Highway 1A - Nguyen Van Linh, extending to the intersection of Minh Mang - Vo Van Kiet.
When completed, Ring Road 3 will create a continuous traffic connection axis from the city center to the new urban areas in the southwest and north of the Huong River, contributing to reducing pressure on current inner-city routes that are under great pressure due to traffic density.
