Writing a volunteer application to join the army is a beautiful tradition of Hue youth.

Every year at the end of October, before the military service health check-up, the military service councils of communes and wards in the city receive applications for military service from young people. The young people wish to be selected to become "Uncle Ho's soldiers", to study, train and mature in the military environment, contributing a small part to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

We were present at the Hoa Chau Ward Military Command when dozens of local youths came to register for the preliminary examination for military service. Among them, many young people wrote a volunteer application to join the army. Young man Tran Huu Thien Tuong (born in 2003, living in Kim Doi residential group) is the fourth child in a family of four siblings. After graduating from college, Tuong was accepted as an office staff ofFPT College, earning about more than 8 million VND/month. However, when he received a call from the locality, Tuong volunteered to write a volunteer application to join the military service.

“I personally saw and heard my fathers and brothers talk about the noble image of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” of the Vietnam People’s Army, so I was very impressed and admired. Therefore, I wish to join the military service in 2026 to dedicate part of my youth to the army, to study and train in the military environment to mature and become a useful person for society...”, Tuong wrote in the application.

Commander of the Hoa Chau Ward Military Command, Le Van Hung, informed: Thanks to proactively mobilizing the entire political system to participate, promoting the propaganda of the Military Service Law to all people, especially young people of military age, local youth actively and enthusiastically registered to join the military service. The ward Military Service Council has received 15 applications from young people volunteering to join the army in 2026.

Young man Le Van Nhat Long (born 2006, in group 5, Thanh Thuy ward) said: I volunteered to join the army to study and serve in the army. If I am allowed to join the army this year, I promise to strictly follow military discipline, strive to complete the assigned tasks, and contribute my small part to protecting the Fatherland.

Mr. Le Viet Dung, Commander of Thanh Thuy Ward Military Command, said: To successfully carry out the task of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2026, the Ward Military Command promptly advised the Party Committee, the Ward People's Committee, and the Ward Military Service Council to deploy the military recruitment task closely and thoughtfully. In particular, paying attention to coordinating and carefully checking the number of male citizens of military age, mobilizing departments, branches, residential groups, and clans to join in.

“Thanks to good propaganda work, the number of citizens of military age in the ward has complied with the call for preliminary health examination for military service, especially the number of citizens working far away, all promised to return to participate in the preliminary examination on the right date. Currently, the ward Military Command has also received more than 10 applications from local youths to volunteer to join the army in 2026,” said Mr. Le Viet Dung.

Writing a volunteer application to join the military service is a tradition, becoming a beautiful feature of Hue city's youth. Over the years, thousands of Hue city's youth have put aside their studies, jobs, and personal matters, enthusiastically writing a volunteer application to join the army, carrying with them great ambitions, fulfilling the duty of a new-age youth to their homeland and Fatherland.
