Today, domestic pepper prices recorded a slight increase thanks to the stability of the world market and limited domestic supply. According to reports from export enterprises and the Vietnam Pepper Association, current inventories are at their lowest level in the past 5-6 years, while the 2025 crop is forecast to be lower than previous years, creating upward pressure on prices.
In addition, the US imposition of countervailing duties on Brazilian pepper has affected global supply, causing importers to shift their focus to Vietnam, contributing to an increase in domestic prices. Although there are still many uncertainties about the countervailing duty policy expected to take effect in early August, demand from major markets such as the US, China and India remains high, supporting domestic pepper prices to continue to rise.
It is forecasted that in the coming time, if the export situation continues to be favorable and supply does not increase suddenly, domestic pepper prices will likely continue to increase slightly, creating favorable conditions for pepper growers and businesses.

According to the latest report from Ptexim, the pepper market remained stable at the beginning of the week with a limited amount of raw materials offered. However, after the US imposed a 50% countervailing tax on Brazilian pepper on July 9, 2025, global pepper prices fell sharply, losing from 100 to 200 USD/ton.
If the pepper price situation in Brazil does not improve, the Brazilian Spice Association may recommend that producers suspend sales and stockpile pepper and coffee, similar to the strategy adopted a few weeks ago to stimulate the market recovery.
Vietnam exported more than 124,000 tonnes of pepper in the first half of 2025, leading to a forecast of a significant reduction in domestic inventories. This year’s crop is expected to be the lowest in many years, while the next harvest is about eight months away, putting great pressure on supply as current inventories are at their lowest in the past 5-6 years.
Ptexim also said that negotiations on reciprocal tariffs are still ongoing and are expected to take effect from August 1, 2025, but it does not rule out the possibility that the tariffs will be postponed or adjusted. This lack of clarity has caused many businesses to limit imports, causing global inventories to decrease rapidly, especially in major markets such as the US and EU. When there is clearer information on tariffs, consumption demand is expected to increase again.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 6 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 124,133 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 850.5 million USD, down 12.9% in volume but up 34.1% in value over the same period last year. The US is still the largest consumer market, accounting for 23.6% of total exports with 27,463 tons, although down 26.6% over the same period. Other markets such as China (9,293 tons, up 24.7%), India (8,804 tons, up 7.7%), UAE (8,747 tons, up 4.3%) and Germany (7,239 tons, down 24%) also had notable fluctuations in Vietnam's pepper exports.
