Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), said that the pent-up demand for pepper in the first half of the year will soon be released, helping the market recover. She said that importers are forced to return to purchasing to supplement supplies and meet production and consumption needs at the end of the year.
The market is showing positive signs. VPSA predicts that the second half of the year will be better, and in fact prices are gradually improving.
According to VPSA's report, Vietnam's pepper output in 2025 is estimated at 180,000 tons, down 10,000 tons compared to the previous year. The main reason is that there was no expansion of new planting areas in the last crop year.
Pepper price today 7/26 in the world market
In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated pepper prices of all types traded in the international market on July 24 (Hanoi time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching 7,136 USD/ton (down 0.25%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices also decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching 9,975 USD/ton (down 0.26%).
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price decreased slightly compared to yesterday at 5,900 USD/ton (down 1.69%).
Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,750/ton.
Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam are stable compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l is 6,440 USD/ton; 550 gr/l is 6,570 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,150/ton.
Pepper export prices in the first 6 months of 2025 increased dramatically, with black pepper averaging 6,665 USD/ton (up 93.6%) and white pepper reaching 8,079 USD/ton (up 63%) compared to the same period last year. This is the highest level in many years, reflecting the recovery of the global market and improved production quality in Vietnam.
According to VPSA, world pepper demand remains stable and slightly increasing despite a decrease in supply compared to 2024. The nearly doubled pepper price has prompted some countries to expand their planting areas, but it will take 2-3 years for the supply to be affected and will not solve the current shortage.
Unlike previous years, farmers in producing countries are not selling massively after harvest thanks to high prices and more stable finances. This helps stabilize the market and reinforces expectations that pepper prices will continue to remain at a good level in the coming time.
