According to information from the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade, the amount of lychees harvested from the beginning of the season to date has reached over 30,000 tons.
I earned 28 million dong selling two baskets of fabric.
Of that total, early-ripening lychees (mainly the U Hong and U Trung varieties) accounted for approximately 29,900 tons. Currently, the area planted with early-ripening lychees is basically entering the final harvesting stage, preparing to transition to the main lychee harvest season.
This year, the export market continues to expand and diversify. China remains the main market with nearly 12,600 tons. In addition, Bac Ninh lychees are also exported to Canada, Europe, Japan, the United States, Australia, and Thailand.
According to assessments by authorities, although lychee production decreased due to unfavorable weather, the quality of the fruit remained high, with attractive appearance, uniform color, and delicious flavor. Therefore, lychee prices remained high, averaging 60,000 - 70,000 VND/kg as of June 1st, higher than in previous years.
Mr. Tran Van Phuc (residing in Nam Duong, Bac Ninh) shared that the price of U Hong and Thanh Ha lychee varieties in the former Luc Ngan district has increased significantly in recent days. Some people brought two baskets of lychees to sell, totaling over 400 kg, at a price of around 70,000 VND/kg. This means the seller could earn up to 28 million VND.
"I've lived here for many years, but I've never seen Luc Ngan lychees fetch such high prices. At some weighing stations, the price of pink lychees has reached 73,000 VND/kg," said Mr. Phuc.
According to Mr. Phuc, the price of pink lychees was high the day before (May 25th), reaching 50,000 VND/kg, but in recent days, due to scarcity, the price of lychees has continued to increase. Currently, the price of Thanh Ha lychees at some weighing stations ranges from 65,000 to 72,000 VND/kg depending on quality and appearance.
"Lychees from Nam Duong are bought at high prices by traders because of their beautiful appearance and good quality. There's a shortage of supply due to this year's unusual weather, which has caused many orchards to lose everything, including mine," Mr. Phuc confided.

Lychee prices are skyrocketing.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ngoc Nam (residing in Phuong Son, Bac Ninh) said that on June 1st, the price of lychees in his area increased significantly, reaching approximately 68,000-70,000 VND/kg for pink lychees.
As for the Thanh Ha hybrid lychee, since it's not yet peak season, the quantity for sale is very small. With about 1-2 tons of Thanh Ha lychee, his family hopes for a good price to make up for all the effort put into caring for and harvesting them.
According to Mr. Nguyen The Thi, Deputy Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Industry and Trade, the province aims to build a professional brand for Bac Ninh agricultural products, including lychees, linked to traceability and high quality standards.
The goal is to enhance the value of products and promote deep processing (dried lychees, juices, etc.) to extend the value chain, increase people's income, and create momentum for sustainable rural economic development.
Looking ahead, according to Mr. Thi, Bac Ninh's Department of Industry and Trade will continue to strengthen trade promotion in depth, expand consumer markets, and boost sales channels on e-commerce platforms, digital platforms, and livestreaming. It will also continue to support businesses and cooperatives in expanding exports to China, the US, Japan, Europe, and other countries.
The Department of Industry and Trade and other departments continue to promote digital transformation in trade promotion, leveraging the effectiveness of the KOL and KOC club model in Bac Ninh province to promote agricultural products in the digital space.
This is a new approach aimed at directly reaching consumers, especially the younger generation, creating a fast, flexible, and effective sales channel.
