Cong Hau calmly scored a goal against U19 Timor-Leste.

In the 2nd minute, receiving the ball from a daring through pass by Duc Vu, Cong Hau raced down and coolly finished to open the scoring for Vietnam U19 against Timor-Leste U19.

On the afternoon of June 1st, the Vietnam U19 team played their opening match in Group A of the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship against Timor-Leste U19 in Indonesia.

After the opening whistle, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team took the initiative to press forward and quickly established a lead, thanks to Cong Hau's goal in the 2nd minute.

From a build-up play in the midfield, Duc Vu dribbled skillfully before delivering a through pass that completely tore apart the U19 Timor-Leste defense. Meanwhile, striker Cong Hau sprinted forward and coolly finished to beat goalkeeper Oliveira, scoring the winning goal for U19 Vietnam.

After conceding an early goal, U19 Timor-Leste, despite not controlling possession as much as U19 Vietnam, still showed resilience in their approach. Timor-Leste mainly launched attacks down the right flank, where captain Vabio Cannavaro (number 19) constantly created dangerous situations towards the U19 Vietnam goal.

Possessing excellent individual technique and confident dribbling ability, the striker wearing number 19 repeatedly caused the Vietnamese U19 defense to work hard. Several of Cannavaro's breakthroughs also created notable opportunities in front of the Vietnamese U19 goal.

Conversely, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's players maintained constant pressure and created many dangerous opportunities. Cong Hau continued to be a bright spot in the attack, playing energetically and frequently appearing in key areas within the opponent's penalty box.

The most regrettable moment came in the 35th minute, when the striker broke through to face the Timor-Leste U19 goalkeeper, but his shot hit the post. The first half ended with Vietnam U19 leading 1-0 after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Vietnam U19 team completely dominated the game and continuously put pressure on the opponent's goal. Striker Cong Hau once again shone brightest in the Vietnam U19 attack, completing his hat-trick in the 83rd and 90+1 minutes.

In the end, Vietnam U19 secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Timor-Leste U19 on the opening day. With this result, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team earned their first 3 points, temporarily taking the top spot in Group A before the match between Indonesia U19 and Myanmar begins at 8 PM.
