Cong Hau scored a hat trick as Vietnam U19 beat Timor Leste 3-0.

Hoang Cong Hau scored 3 goals to help Vietnam U19 win against Timor Leste U19 in the 2026 Southeast Asian U19 Championship.

On the afternoon of June 1st, the Vietnam U19 team played their opening match of the Southeast Asian U19 Championship against Timor Leste. Although not fielding all of their best players, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi and his team still achieved their goal of securing 3 points.

In the second minute, Dac Vu controlled the ball and delivered a quality pass for Hoang Cong Hau to finish into an empty net, opening the scoring for Vietnam U19.

The Vietnamese U19 attack shone early on, but their defense was not secure. There were at least two instances where the defenders allowed Timor-Leste forwards to threaten Hoa Xuan Tin's goal, but Vietnam U19 did not concede a goal.

Vietnam U19 secured an easy victory against Timor Leste U19.

For the remainder of the first half, the Vietnam U19 team continued to control the game. Duc Vu and Cong Hau remained the two most important attacking threats, causing numerous difficulties for the opposing team. Unfortunately, a lack of sharpness and bad luck prevented them from scoring another goal in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the same scenario repeated itself as the Timor Leste U19 team tried their best but failed to make any significant difference. Meanwhile, the Vietnam U19 team somewhat lost their necessary rhythm as the hot weather in Indonesia affected the players' stamina.

In the latter half of the second half, the pressure exerted by the Vietnam U19 team on the opponent's half continued to increase. In the 83rd minute, from a cross by Quoc Khanh, Hoang Cong Hau once again scored with a beautiful overhead kick, doubling the lead for Vietnam U19.

A few minutes later, Cong Hau completed his hat-trick, securing a convincing 3-0 victory for the Vietnam U19 team.
