Gold price this afternoon (August 28): Gold bar prices increased simultaneously and set a new peak at over 128 million VND/tael.

Accordingly, today's gold price is listed by DOJI Hanoi and DOJI Ho Chi Minh City at around 126.7 million VND/tael for buying (up 700 thousand VND/tael); 128.2 million VND/tael for selling (up 200 thousand VND/tael).

SJC listed the price of gold bars at around 126.7 million VND/tael for buying (up 700 thousand VND/tael); 128.2 million VND/tael for selling (up 200 thousand VND/tael).

Phu Quy SJC listed gold price around 125.7 million VND/tael for buying (up 300 thousand VND/tael); 128.2 million VND/tael for selling (up 200 thousand VND/tael).

Bao Tin Minh Chau listed today's gold price around 126.7 million VND/tael for buying (up 900 thousand VND/tael); 128.2 million VND/tael for selling (up 200 thousand VND/tael).

Plain round gold rings are traded by businesses at 120.3 million VND/tael for buying - 123.3 million VND/tael for selling (an increase of 300 thousand VND/tael for both buying and selling).

PNJ is listing ring gold at around 120.1 million VND/tael for buying (up 200 thousand VND/tael); 123 million VND/tael for selling (up 400 thousand VND/tael).

As of 1:30 p.m. on August 28 (Vietnam time), the world gold price decreased by 4 USD/ounce compared to the previous session to 3,393.5 USD/ounce.

World gold prices are under slight downward pressure in the context of the USD reversing to increase in price due to market concerns about rising inflation again.

Gold prices also fell as investors took profits after the precious metal hit a more than two-week high in the previous session.

However, the decline was quite small as safe-haven demand continued to support gold. Investors are now focusing on the PCE (Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index) inflation index, which will be released next Friday. The PCE index is the inflation measure that the US Federal Reserve (FED) prefers to assess the trend of adjusting monetary policy.

If PCE data shows higher-than-expected inflation, that could reduce the chances of a Fed rate cut in September.
