- According to a quick review by the Department of Industry and Trade, in recent days (from August 25 to present), the prices of some types of green vegetables sold at markets in Lang Son province have increased compared to the time before August 25.
Specifically, water spinach, Chinese cabbage, and green squash are sold at 25,000 VND/kg; Chinese cabbage 20/kg; green squash, red spinach, and tomatoes are 20,000 VND/kg; bean sprouts are 21,500 VND/kg... Herbs such as onions, coriander, Vietnamese coriander, basil, perilla, dill... are priced from 15,000 - 21,000 VND/kg. The prices of these vegetables have all increased by 5,000 - 10,000 VND/kg depending on the type compared to the previous days.
In addition, tubers such as taro, potatoes, carrots, white radish, kohlrabi... also cost from 20,000 - 30,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 10,000 VND/kg compared to before.
Researching the market, it is known that in recent days, due to the impact of many heavy rains, many vegetable growing areas in Lang Son province and other localities in the Northern region were flooded, so the supply of vegetables was affected, which is the reason for the increase in vegetable prices.
At this time, the amount of spring vegetables and tubers in the province has run out, small traders mainly import from other localities to supply the consumption needs of the people, this also causes the price of vegetables to increase.
The high price of vegetables is due to a temporary shortage of supply. According to the recommendations of the provincial agricultural sector, farmers need to be careful in production and should not expand the planting area massively, which can easily lead to a situation of "good harvest, low price" when the supply is abundant again. Along with that, it is necessary to research the market, choose suitable plant varieties for cultivation and promote production linkages to ensure output for green vegetable products.
