World gold price today 05/09/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 3,330.35 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 1.61% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,401 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 106 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 14.5 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

World gold prices fell amid speculation that US President Donald Trump is likely to announce a trade deal between the United States and the United Kingdom.

Spot gold fell 0.1% to $3,362.19 an ounce by 13:18 GMT, after rising 1% in the previous session. US gold futures also slipped 0.7% to $3,368.50 an ounce.

"The gold market is very volatile. What you're seeing is short-term investors buying and selling based on headlines. Gold could range between $3,050 and $3,500 in the long term," said Jeffrey Christian, managing partner at CPM Group.

President Trump posted on Truth Social that he would be holding a press conference in the Oval Office at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT) to announce a major trade deal with representatives of a large and highly respected country, the tweet said, all in capital letters.

Earlier in the day, the New York Times reported that the United States and Britain were likely to announce a deal.

Bullion, seen as a hedge against geopolitical risks, has risen more than $300 and set new records since Mr Trump first announced the tariffs.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet with China’s top economic official on Saturday in Switzerland. Separately, China’s central bank has approved commercial banks to buy foreign currency to pay for gold imports under recently increased quotas.

"In theory, this move should support gold prices due to increased demand from China. However, for now, market factors are still dominated by tariff-related developments," said analyst Zain Vawda of MarketPulse at OANDA.

On US monetary policy, the Federal Reserve decided to keep interest rates unchanged on Wednesday but warned that the risks of higher inflation and rising unemployment are present, as policymakers grapple with the impact of tariffs.

Meanwhile, spot silver rose 0.2% to $32.52 an ounce, platinum rose 1% to $984.15 and palladium also edged up 0.2% to $973.92.
