Today's gold prices (May 9th) in the domestic market show that the price of gold bars remains stable compared to yesterday; the price of gold rings has increased at some brands.

Today's world gold price

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:30 AM Vietnam time today was $4,741 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is up nearly 1% compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,431 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 151 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is currently about 16.5 million VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

According to Reuters, global gold prices continued to rise following a better-than-expected jobs report, and prices are also heading for gains this week as optimism about a potential end to the Iran conflict eases concerns about inflation and high interest rates.

Data showed that the number of jobs in the US increased more than expected in April, while the unemployment rate remained stable at 4.3%, indicating a resilience in the labor market.

"Traditionally, we tend to think that better-than-expected jobs data would boost the dollar and put pressure on gold prices. However, that didn't actually happen today. Currently, gold is trading more as a risk asset than a safe-haven asset. The recovery in gold is tied to the prospect of de-escalation in Iran, with falling energy prices, and we're seeing increasing prospects of future Federal Reserve interest rate cuts," said David Meger, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures.

Gold, often seen as a safe haven during times of global uncertainty, is under pressure from rising interest rates due to its non-yielding nature. According to the CME FedWatch tool, the market now forecasts a 14% probability of interest rate hikes this year, down from around 22% the previous day.

US and Iranian forces clashed in the Gulf and the United Arab Emirates suffered renewed attacks, but President Donald Trump said the ceasefire was still in place despite the escalating tensions.

Meanwhile, gold demand in India was relatively subdued this week as the price recovery caused potential buyers to postpone transactions, while gold prices in China remained stable due to safe-haven demand.

Spot silver prices rose 3.1% to $80.88 an ounce, platinum gained 0.2% to $2,026.80, both on track for gains this week. Palladium prices fell 0.3% to $1,476.18 but have dropped nearly 3% for the week.

Domestic gold prices today

The price of SJC gold bars remained mostly unchanged this morning at major businesses, following a sharp increase in the previous session.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed gold bars at VND 164.5 million/ounce for buying and VND 167.5 million/ounce for selling, unchanged from yesterday. The buy-sell spread remained at VND 3 million/ounce.

DOJI Group maintains the price of SJC gold bars at 164.5 - 167.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). The buying-selling spread at DOJI continues to be pegged at 3 million VND/ounce.

Similarly, Bao Tin Minh Chau maintained the price of SJC gold bars at 164.5 - 167.5 million VND/ounce, unchanged from the previous session. The spread between the two trading levels remained at 3 million VND/ounce.

Phu Quy Group also maintained the price of SJC gold bars at 164.5 million VND/ounce for buying and 167.5 million VND/ounce for selling. The buy-sell spread remains at 3 million VND/ounce.

Meanwhile, PNJ remained unchanged in both buying and selling prices, listing SJC gold bars at 163.6 - 166.6 million VND/ounce. The buy-sell spread at PNJ remained at 3 million VND/ounce.

Specifically, Mi Hong adjusted the buying price down by 500,000 VND/ounce to 164.5 million VND/ounce, while the selling price remained unchanged at 166.5 million VND/ounce. As a result, the buy-sell spread widened to 2 million VND/ounce.

Regarding the price of gold rings, the price of 9999 Hung Thinh Vuong round gold rings at Doji is listed at 164.5 - 167.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), remaining unchanged in both buying and selling prices compared to the close of the previous trading session.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed the price of SJC gold rings (1-5 tael) at 164 - 167 million VND/tael (buying price - selling price), remaining unchanged in both buying and selling prices compared to the previous closing session.

Bao Tin Minh Chau listed the price of plain gold rings at 164.5 - 167.5 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), remaining unchanged in both buying and selling prices compared to the close of the previous trading session.

PNJ gold rings are currently listed at 164.3 million VND/ounce for buying and 167.3 million VND/ounce for selling, an increase of 300,000 VND/ounce compared to yesterday's price in both directions.

Bao Tin Manh Hai listed the price of Kim Gia Bao gold rings at 164.5 - 167.4 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), unchanged in both buying and selling prices compared to the close of the previous trading session.
