At approximately 6:00 AM on May 20th (Vietnam time), the price of gold on the international market was trading at $4,483 per ounce, a sharp decrease of $87 compared to the highest peak recorded last night of $4,560 per ounce.
Compared to the same time yesterday, the price has dropped by nearly $100.
The sharp decline in gold prices stems from the appreciation of the US dollar and pressure from the bond market. The yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds remained near 4.6%, increasing the opportunity cost of holding gold.
Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to support demand for gold as a safe haven. However, persistent inflation concerns linked to oil supply have somewhat offset this positive impact.
Given the current developments, investors are awaiting further signals from the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy and updates on US-Iran tensions to assess the future trend of gold prices.
