World gold price today 5/21/2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 p.m. today, Vietnam time, was 3,222.37 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 81.19 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,140 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 105.36 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 15.64 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices rose to their highest level in more than a week on Thursday, supported by a weaker dollar and safe-haven demand, partly due to US President Donald Trump’s failure to convince Republicans to support his tax reform bill. Spot gold prices rose sharply by nearly $100 an ounce, while US gold futures rose 0.7% to $3,308.60.

"The market has changed direction again due to concerns about the US fiscal situation, especially after Moody's downgraded its credit rating. Gold prices above $3,300 an ounce are also attracting many investors," said UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo.

“Fiscal policy concerns are weighing on the dollar, and when the dollar weakens, gold prices are supported,” Staunovo added. The dollar continued to fall to a two-week low against other currencies, making gold cheaper for investors using other currencies.

In a closed-door meeting in Congress, President Trump warned Republicans not to demand further changes to the tax bill, which includes tax cuts and tighter Medicaid eligibility.

Investors are also closely monitoring developments in Russia-Ukraine peace talks, as well as progress in trade deals as Trump's 90-day tariff suspension is about to expire.

Last month, gold prices hit a new record of $3,500.05 an ounce, boosted by central bank buying, trade war concerns and strong investment flows.

Silver edged up 0.3% to $33.15 an ounce, while platinum fell 1% to $1,043.10. Palladium fell 0.8% to $1,005.70 an ounce, having earlier hit its highest since Feb. 4.
