Update the latest world gold price today, August 18, 2025
World gold price, at 12:00 on August 18, 2025 (Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at 3,356.6 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 22.0 USD compared to yesterday. Gold prices in the world market have recovered after hitting a two-week low. This recovery was due to the decline in US Treasury yields, making gold more attractive to investors. They are waiting for an important meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and European leaders to discuss a peace deal with Russia.
At 12:00 noon today (Vietnam time), the spot gold price increased by 0.5%, to 3,350.55 USD/ounce, after falling to its lowest level since August 1. Similarly, the price of US gold futures also increased by 0.4%, reaching 3,396.90 USD.
According to Tim Waterer, market analyst at KCM Trade, gold prices have reversed to increase after many investors considered the price around $3,330 as a good buying opportunity. In addition, US Treasury bond yields have also reduced the increase of last weekend, creating favorable conditions for this precious metal.
Investors are cautious and closely monitoring political developments. The White House meeting between leaders will be the focus this week, while their attention will also be on the annual meeting of the Federal Reserve in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Experts are largely predicting the Fed will cut interest rates for the first time this year in September, with another cut likely by the end of the year. Lower interest rates are generally positive for gold, as they make non-yielding assets more competitive with other investments.
In addition to gold, other precious metals also recorded slight gains. Spot silver rose 0.4% to $38.13 an ounce, platinum rose 0.4% to $1,341.35 and palladium rose 0.6% to $1,118.80.
