On August 18, Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City Bui Thi Minh Hoai sent a letter of commendation to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Hanoi City Police.

The letter of commendation stated that on July 9, 2025, the City Police organized a fight to destroy a criminal ring of "Illegal drug trafficking" related to inpatients with mental illness at the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry. This is a tightly organized criminal ring with sophisticated and complex methods of operation, of a particularly serious nature.

Up to now, the Investigation Police Agency, the City Police have coordinated with the City People's Procuracy to initiate criminal proceedings, prosecute 17 defendants for the crimes of "Illegal drug trafficking", "Organizing illegal drug use", "Illegal possession of drugs"; of which, 3 subjects are patients undergoing compulsory treatment at the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry; seized a total of 22kg of synthetic drugs, 1 gun and related objects and means.

The letter of commendation affirmed that the investigation and discovery of the case had a great impact on public opinion and created strong confidence for all classes of people in the capital. This is an outstanding achievement of the city's police force in the peak emulation campaign to attack and suppress crime on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Police and the 20th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Protecting National Security (August 19); the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day (September 2); absolutely ensuring security and safety for the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

On behalf of the City's leaders, the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee warmly commended and recognized the outstanding achievements of the collective of officers and soldiers of the City Police: Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Technical Department.

The commendation letter from the City Party Secretary expressed his belief that in the coming time, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Departments will continue to promote their responsibilities, strive, and achieve more achievements, contributing to ensuring security and order, for the peaceful and happy life of the people of the Capital.
