Hanoi City leaders visit and encourage people affected by storms and floods in Tu Liem ward

On the afternoon of October 8, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Bui Huyen Mai visited and presented gifts to encourage households in Tu Liem ward affected by storms and floods.

Based on the proposal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tu Liem Ward, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City has supported 320 households in the ward with difficult circumstances, illnesses, and affected by floods.

Entering Phu Do village, which is still flooded, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Bui Huyen Mai and the working delegation visited the family of Mr. Vu Duy Hung; the family of Mr. Nguyen Phi Cong and the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, in residential group number 3. Some families were still submerged in water, their belongings were damaged, and they had no electricity yet.

At the families, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city shared and encouraged the families and presented gifts including cash and some essential necessities. He affirmed that all levels and sectors of Hanoi city are implementing many short-term and long-term solutions to overcome flooding and adapt to climate change; hoping that the households will soon stabilize their lives...

Mrs. Ngo Thi Binh, wife of Mr. Vu Duy Hung, expressed her emotions when the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city and the ward leaders directly visited, gave gifts, encouraged, and helped the family feel shared and not alone in the face of natural disasters.

After visiting and encouraging some households, comrade Bui Huyen Mai and the delegation visited and encouraged the drainage pump operation team - a large capacity device of 5m3 /s, operating 24/7, which was supported by the city on October 8, helping to drain about 70% - 80% of the flood water on the recent peak day.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City highly appreciated the work of the entire political system of Tu Liem Ward, promptly supporting people to avoid food shortages. He also requested the local authorities to do a good job of environmental sanitation when the water recedes, to prevent the outbreak of epidemics...

Previously, according to the report of Tu Liem Ward People's Committee, heavy rains overloaded the urban drainage system, causing flooding in residential areas and traffic jams. 320 households with about 1,120 people in residential group No. 15 Cau Dien, residential groups No. 2 and No. 3 Phu Do were affected by flooding. Of which, 28 households with 95 people had to evacuate. Immediately after the households were flooded by the rain and floods, the local authorities mobilized support teams to move some properties, cut off electricity to ensure safety, and provide some essential necessities for the people...
