Visitors from far away, whenever they come to the Hon Dung Community Tourism Village and visit the souvenir shop of Mr. Mau Hong Thai's family, are often amazed when they hear him perform Raglai musical instruments such as: Chapi, Gourd flute; they are even more surprised when they know that these musical instruments are all made by the Thai elder himself. In addition to these two musical instruments, the Thai elder also makes many other traditional handicraft products such as: Backpacks, crossbows of the Raglai people. Gia Thai proudly boasted: “All 4 traditional handicraft products that I made, including: Chapi, Khen Bau, Gụ, and the crossbow set named Hong Thai are all recognized as 3-star OCOP products. Previously, I was not interested in registering OCOP products. Then every time a group of visitors from the lowlands came to visit and buy the products I made, I was very happy and thought that in order to affirm the quality of the products to serve customers, I had to boldly register as OCOP products. Thanks to that, traditional products of the Raglai people became more widely known.”

Old Mau Hong Thai diligently preserves traditional profession. |
Elder Thai tells visitors the story of the OCOP products he makes. That is, a Raglai man truly matures when he knows how to weave a good basket to go to the fields, knows how to make a crossbow for hunting, knows how to make a musical instrument, makes a flute to go out. Whoever weaves a beautiful and sturdy basket, makes a crossbow, an arrow to hunt many wild animals, makes a Chapi, a flute with good sound, will be secretly admired by many girls... Then on clear moonlit nights, the boys and girls in the village sit together in front of the long house, to the sound of the Chapi, to the sound of the flute, the young girls sing up the melodies of the epic. Or during the golden rice seasons on the fields, the basket, the crossbow follow the Raglai people to the fields; the Chapi, the flute with the Raglai people sing songs of a good harvest...

Holding the Chapi instrument in his hand, listening to the story of the Thai elder telling about his OCOP product, Mr. Pham Quy Hai - a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City shared that this instrument has been famous in poetry but only now did he witness the Thai elder making and performing it. It was even more impressive to know that this simple instrument is closely associated with the life and activities of the people and has become the "soul" of the Raglai people. Therefore, when visiting the Hon Dung Community Tourism Village, he visited the souvenir shop of the Thai elder to listen and understand more about the beautiful cultural traditions of the Raglai people, then bought some OCOP products of the Thai elder to keep beautiful memories when coming to Khanh Son commune.
Mr. NGUYEN NGOC HAI - Vice Chairman of Khanh Son Commune People's Committee: Currently, the locality has 9 OCOP products, including 1 4-star OCOP product and 8 3-star OCOP products. Notably, 4 3-star OCOP products named Hong Thai belong to ethnic minorities. In addition to preserving and promoting traditional crafts, making quality products to serve the daily life of the people, OCOP products of Thai elders are also used for tourism at Hon Dung Village Community Tourism Village to preserve and promote the fine traditional values of the Raglai people. In addition to these traditional handicraft products, the Commune People's Committee is supporting Mr. Mau Quoc He's family - an ethnic minority household in Hon Dung Village to develop the traditional wine product of the Raglai people into an OCOP product to serve tourists when coming to Khanh Son Commune.
