How much do bus ticket prices increase in Bac Lieu during Tet (Lunar New Year)?

According to the Bac Lieu Bus and Ferry Terminal Management Board, the projected number of vehicles and passengers during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025 is expected to increase by 3-5% compared to the same period in 2024.

This year, the Lunar New Year holiday falls earlier than usual, on January 25th, 2025 (the 26th day of the lunar year), so the predicted increase in visitors will not be a sudden surge, but will last from January 25th, 2025 to January 28th, 2025 (the 29th day of the lunar year).

Bac Lieu bus station is making all necessary preparations to serve the travel needs of passengers during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025.

Therefore, from January 19, 2025 (the 20th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon) to February 7, 2025 (the 10th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake), transportation companies with ticket offices at the bus station will sell tickets from 5 AM to 10 PM daily.

At the same time, there are plans to sell tickets in advance to passengers through the call center and website of each transportation company after the registration and declaration of ticket prices for the Tet holiday. In addition, the management board at the bus station will organize ticket sales to passengers on behalf of transportation companies (if any).

According to annual statistics from the Bac Lieu Bus and Ferry Terminal Management Board, the routes with price increases are mainly Bac Lieu - Ho Chi Minh City, with ticket prices not exceeding 40% compared to normal days. The increases mainly occur before Tet (Lunar New Year) and two days after Tet. Currently, no company has registered to declare a price increase for Tet 2025.

The Bac Lieu Bus and Ferry Terminal Management Board monitors passenger and vehicle traffic on each trip to make appropriate adjustments, focusing mainly on routes from Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Ca Mau , to prevent congestion and passenger backlog at the terminal.

According to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, on the morning of January 1st (New Year's Day holiday), the number of passengers at Bac Lieu Bus Station did not increase significantly compared to normal days. Operations at the station were smooth and uncomplicated, with buses parked in their designated positions and ready to depart upon request or passenger transport orders.

The bus station management board has renovated the station grounds and cleaned up the environment, repairing the station's surface to ensure it is neat and clean; creating all conditions for vehicles to pick up and drop off passengers safely and conveniently.

At the same time, a complete nighttime lighting system is in place, along with an enhanced public address system to announce routes, schedules, and fares, so that passengers can make informed choices about transportation options.

Vehicles inside Bac Lieu Bus Station were parked in designated areas according to regulations, and there was no chaos at the station at the time of observation.

Sitting inside the waiting area at Bac Lieu Bus Station, Ms. Le Thi Thuy (a resident of Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province) shared: "This morning, I came to the bus station to wait for a bus to Ho Chi Minh City for a medical check-up. Compared to when I went two weeks ago, it seems normal; there aren't too many passengers at the station. Perhaps because of the one-day New Year's holiday, people who work far from home didn't return to their hometowns."

According to Ms. Luu Ngoc Vi, Deputy Director of the Bac Lieu Bus and Ferry Terminal Management Board, to ensure the travel needs of the people, the board is coordinating with transportation businesses to arrange backup vehicles to alleviate passenger congestion at the terminal.

"At the same time, we are also strengthening coordination with the Traffic Police and Traffic Inspectors to handle the situation of illegal taxis and unauthorized parking to pick up passengers, which disrupts traffic safety and order in front of the bus station, and to ensure security and order within the bus station."

According to Ms. Vi, the bus station management board operates in shifts, and if necessary, personnel will be deployed from Ho Phong and Ganh Hao bus stations to reinforce support for Bac Lieu Bus and Ferry Station during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025.
