Gasoline price today September 24: How much did domestic gasoline decrease this week?

On the morning of September 24, gasoline prices increased sharply, Brent oil increased by 1.06 USD, equivalent to 1.6%, to 67.63 USD/barrel; meanwhile, WTI oil increased by 1.13 USD, equivalent to 1.8%, to 63.41 USD/barrel.

Thus, after many consecutive sessions of decline, losing about 3%, world oil prices reversed to increase again. Analysts said that the expectation that oil exports via pipeline from the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan to Turkey have not been resumed has supported the increase in oil prices. This export activity has been interrupted since March 2023.

On Reuters, Mr. Phil Flynn, senior analyst at Price Futures Group, commented that the market reacted by selling off when news of the oil export deal from Kurdistan appeared. However, the fact that the deal has not been implemented means that the expected amount of oil has not yet returned to the market. In addition, the production output in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is still low, supporting the price of oil.

In fact, the global oil market is facing rising supply and weakening demand, amid the growing popularity of electric vehicles and growing global economic pressure due to US tariffs. In its latest monthly report, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecast that global oil supply will increase faster this year and could be in surplus by 2026, as OPEC+ countries increase production and supply from non-OPEC countries also increases.

Therefore, the increase in crude oil exports by OPEC+, along with the lack of new sanctions on Russian oil, is creating pressure that makes it difficult for oil prices to maintain their upward momentum.

In the country, speaking to Thanh Nien on the morning of September 24, a number of petroleum businesses predicted that domestic petroleum prices would fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation last week. It is forecasted that in the price adjustment period tomorrow afternoon (September 25), retail petroleum prices may decrease across the board, with the decrease fluctuating around 400 VND/liter, while kerosene may remain unchanged./.
