A few months ago, Chinese RAM was expected to offer a budget-friendly option for global users. However, KingBank's DDR5 prices using CXMT chips are now on par with Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
A 32GB DDR5 module is being advertised for around $530, while the 64GB DDR5-6000 version exceeds $1,000.
The main reason is the surge in demand for memory chips from AI data centers, which has led to the consumer segment being neglected.
CXMT has shifted most of its production capacity to HBM3 to support its AI servers. Global DDR4 RAM prices have also surged, reaching their highest level since 2016, according to DRAMeXchange data. Nevertheless, CXMT still sells DDR4 at half the market price, but quantities may be limited.
When even China's biggest manufacturer isn't keen on the mainstream segment, the dream of cheap RAM is effectively over. Readers are invited to watch the following video : Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
