The Director of the Son La Provincial Police has been promoted to the rank of Major General.

The President has just decided to promote Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the Son La Provincial Police, along with 18 other People's Police officers, to the rank of Major General.

On June 2nd, in Hanoi, acting on behalf of the President, General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Party Committee of the Public Security Ministry, and Minister of Public Security, presided over the ceremony to announce the President's decision on the promotion of People's Public Security officers to the rank of general.

At the ceremony, the head of the Personnel Department announced the President's decision to promote 19 People's Public Security officers from Colonel to Major General. Among them was Comrade Nguyen Minh Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the Son La Provincial Public Security Department.

Major General Nguyen Minh Tuan was born in 1977 in Binh Phu commune, Phu Tho province; he holds a Master's degree in Law and a Senior Certificate in Political Theory.

Prior to his promotion to Major General, on April 1, 2026, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to announce the Minister of Public Security's decision on personnel matters at the Son La Provincial Police Department.

At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, presented the decision to transfer and appoint Colonel Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security, to take up the position of Director of the Son La Provincial Police Department.

At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Son La Provincial Party Committee decided to appoint Colonel Nguyen Minh Tuan to the Party Committee Executive Board, the Party Committee Standing Committee, and to hold the position of Secretary of the Son La Provincial Police Party Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

Prior to assuming the position of Director of the Son La Provincial Police, Major General Nguyen Minh Tuan held various positions within the People's Police force, including: Deputy Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Police, and Deputy Chief of the Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security.

The President's decision to promote Comrade Nguyen Minh Tuan to the rank of Major General is a recognition of his work, training, and contributions to the cause of protecting national security and maintaining social order and safety; it also demonstrates the trust of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Public Security in the key leadership cadres of the People's Public Security force.
