Inter Milan's 0-5 loss to PSG in the early morning of June 1 became one of the heaviest defeats in the history of European Cup finals. This was the fourth time the "Nerazzurri" lost the Champions League final, and the Italian representative was overwhelmed by PSG in every aspect.
After the match, Mr. Marotta shared: "Italy is no longer a football paradise. We are in a transition process. The strongest teams are not in Italy. The clubs with strong financial foundations are not in Italy either. For example, PSG has an unlimited transfer budget. That is not an excuse. Obviously, the championship candidates are other teams, and they are often the winning teams."
Before their Champions League appearance, Inter were facing a financial crisis. The club was still recovering from financial problems caused by Covid-19 and debts left by former owners, Suning. Suning Group (China) lost control of the club after failing to repay a loan to US investment fund Oaktree.

Regarding the defeat to PSG, Mr. Marotta added: "The opponent was superior to us in every aspect. But this should not overshadow the progress that Inter has made in the Champions League. I want to thank the players and the coach, who defeated teams like Bayern and Barcelona. This club deserves its current position."
When asked about the future of coach Simone Inzaghi, Inter's CEO said: "Inzaghi has a 1-year contract and has proven himself worthy of the job here. This is not the time to erase all our achievements in the past."
After the final, Inter must prepare for another tournament in mid-June, the FIFA Club World Cup. At the same time, the club also needs to decide the future of coach Inzaghi, who is being courted by Al Hilal.
