Gold prices this afternoon, January 27, 2025: World gold prices fell immediately at the opening of the first trading session of the week, to $2,766 per ounce, $4 per ounce lower than last week.

At the time of the survey at 13:00 on January 27, 2025, the gold prices on the exchanges of several companies were listed as follows:

The price of SJC gold, as listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), remains unchanged at 86.8 million VND/ounce for buying and 88.8 million VND/ounce for selling compared to yesterday.

Today, DOJI lists the price of 9999 gold at 86.9 million VND/ounce for buying and 88.9 million VND/ounce for selling, unchanged in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the price of SJC gold at the time of the survey was listed at 86.5-87.5 million VND/ounce for buying and selling. Compared to yesterday, the price decreased by 200,000 VND/ounce for buying and remained unchanged for selling.

The price of SJC gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Manh Hai companies is being traded at 86.9-88.9 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), unchanged in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

At Phu Quy, the price of SJC gold is being traded by businesses at 86.4-88.9 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price), unchanged in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

Due to the Lunar New Year holiday, only a few domestic gold market vendors have announced prices. Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company reduced the selling price of SJC gold bars by 300,000 VND per tael, to 88.2 million VND, while the buying price remained unchanged at 87.2 million VND. Meanwhile, the buying price of 9999 gold rings was 87.1 million VND, and the selling price was 88.2 million VND.

Spot gold prices fell 0.6% to $2,755.79 per ounce at 10:04 AM (Vietnam time), slightly below the record high of January 24. US gold futures also fell 0.6% to $2,761.2 per ounce.

IG market strategist Yeap Jun Rong predicts that gold prices will remain in an upward trend, as uncertainties surrounding trade measures are likely to dominate market sentiment.

Investors are also closely watching the Fed meeting on January 28-29 and how the Fed responds to Trump's actions. Gold is considered a safe-haven asset amid geopolitical uncertainty and inflation, and typically benefits from a low interest rate environment.

The Fed cut interest rates in September, November, and December 2024, but in its most recent meeting, it signaled fewer rate cuts in 2025. Other major central banks have also signaled caution regarding their 2025 plans.

"Gold is likely to remain supported into 2025 as increased geopolitical risks, trade tensions, and central bank buying offset headwinds from a strong dollar and a slow pace of monetary easing by the Fed," said Aneeka Gupta, Director of Macroeconomic Research at WisdomTree.
