Specifically, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won 17 gold medals from wrestling (6), judo (4), kick-boxing (2), stick fighting, taekwondo, fencing, sepak takraw, and women's football.
Vietnamese wrestlers won 6 gold medals on May 15
The most impressive performance today was in wrestling, winning 6 gold medals in 6 events. These gold medals were brought home by Dang Thi Linh (76kg women), Lai Dieu Thuong (68kg women), Nguyen Thi Xuan (50kg women), Nguyen Thi My Hanh (62kg women), Tran Anh Tuyet (59kg women) and Nguyen Thi My Trang (57kg women). After 2 days of competition, Vietnamese wrestlers won 9 gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games.
Judo also competed successfully with 4 gold medals.
Along with wrestling, another martial art, Judo, also competed successfully, winning 4 gold medals thanks to Nguyen Nhac Nhu An (44kg women), Hoang Thi Tinh (48kg women), Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (52kg women) and Le Anh Tai (90kg men). Up to now, Vietnam Judo has 7 gold medals, the team will compete on May 16 to improve their achievements.
Kick-boxing also brought home 2 gold medals
Meanwhile, Kick-boxing also brought home 2 gold medals thanks to Nguyen Thi Hang Nga (women's under 48kg weight class) and Le Thi Nhi (women's under 50kg weight class). Fencing won 1 gold medal in the men's sabre team event with Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Van Quyet, To Duc Anh, Nguyen Xuan Loi; Sepak Takraw won its first gold medal in the women's doubles event with Nguyen Thi Yen, Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen; Pham Dang Quang won a gold medal for Taekwondo in the men's 63kg weight class; Vu Thi Thanh Binh brought home 1 gold medal for stick fighting in the women's singles; the Vietnamese women's football team brought home a gold medal at the end of the day after defeating Myanmar.
At the end of the competition day on May 15, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won 17 gold medals. According to the organizing committee's rankings as of 10 p.m. today, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has 124 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 97 bronze medals, ranking first and 30 gold medals ahead of the second-ranked team, Thailand (94 gold medals, 74 silver medals, 93 bronze medals). Meanwhile, Indonesia is ranked third with 74 gold medals, 66 silver medals, 93 bronze medals, and the host team, Cambodia, is ranked fourth with 70 gold medals, 68 silver medals, and 113 bronze medals.
