Many preferential policies

With its strategic location in the Northwest region, bordering the northern provinces of Laos, Dien Bien has an urgent need to develop high-quality human resources. The Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien has advised on the implementation of many plans, focusing on developing Dien Bien College into a high-quality school, capable of taking on the role of a center for training technical human resources for the entire region.

A significant step forward is digital transformation in vocational teaching and learning. Currently, 100% of vocational training institutions in Dien Bien have applied technology in teaching. Large-scale training classes, self-study movements of teachers, and creative models in each lesson have turned AI into an effective tool to support teachers and learners.

According to Ms. Hoang Tuyet Ban - Director of Dien Bien Department of Education and Training, many vocational institutions have applied simulation software in training in engineering, medicine , electronics, etc., helping students not only grasp theory but also practice skills in handling situations close to the working environment. This is a great advantage in the context of businesses increasingly prioritizing recruiting workers who can work immediately.

The major challenge for Dien Bien is that the rate of trained workers is still low, while more than 80% of the population is ethnic minorities. Therefore, the connection between schools and businesses is considered a key solution to improve training quality.

The Department of Education and Training has advised the merger of Dien Bien Vocational College and Dien Bien College of Economics and Technology, forming Dien Bien College with the orientation of developing into a high-quality school. This not only changes the organization, but also opens up opportunities for cooperation with businesses, technology transfer, and access to advanced training programs.

At the same time, the province is implementing many preferential policies on finance and taxes to encourage businesses to participate in training and invest in facilities. This support helps students have a practical practice environment, ensuring job opportunities after graduation.

Lo Van Sinh, a third-year student majoring in Industrial Electricity, shared: “Interning at a company helps me understand the production process and industrial style. When I return to class, I have more motivation to practice to meet the job requirements in the future.”

In addition, career guidance and orientation work is promoted from junior high school to high school. High schools organize teaching according to selected topics, combined with career counseling, creating a foundation for students to orient themselves early. STEM education is included in the curriculum, helping students access science and technology and develop problem-solving skills.

In the digital age, education is moving towards personalizing learning experiences, allowing students to access online platforms and digital tools. This is the way to create a workforce that can adapt quickly to market demands.

Notably, many high schools in Dien Bien have boldly implemented career experience activities, taking students to visit businesses, factories, and career centers. Through this, students not only have a clearer picture of their future path but also have more motivation to study and practice.

Breakthrough for integration and development

According to Ms. Hoang Tuyet Ban, to provide modern, integrated and effective vocational education, it is necessary to first focus on improving the quality of training. Standardizing the program and teaching staff, and investing in modern facilities and equipment will create conditions for learners to practice practical skills, meeting the increasingly high demands of businesses.

Ms. Hoang Tuyet Ban emphasized that improving the efficiency of labor use is the key direction. When the rate of graduates with jobs in the right field is improved, the quality of training will be affirmed, and social trust in vocational education will be increasingly consolidated.

In particular, Dien Bien will promote vocational training for rural workers, especially ethnic minority areas. “This is not only a solution to provide skilled human resources for the locality, but also contributes significantly to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, promoting socio-economic development, and building new rural areas,” Ms. Ban emphasized.

Mr. Tran Ba Uan - Principal of Dien Bien College affirmed: "The school is focusing on building an open, flexible training program that closely follows the needs of businesses. We focus on investing in practice rooms, simulation workshops, and strengthening cooperation with businesses so that students can experience a real working environment during their studies."

In the long term, for these orientations to be effective, Dien Bien needs to continue to mobilize social resources, expand international cooperation, and learn from experiences of advanced vocational training models. When there is a combination of internal efforts and external support, vocational education will be able to create high-quality human resources to meet integration requirements.

Ms. Hoang Tuyet Ban - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province commented that the application of technology not only helps save time and reduce pressure for teachers but also enhances the initiative and creativity of students. More importantly, this process contributes to shortening the gap between vocational education in mountainous areas and the advanced training trend of the whole country.
