Based on provincial documents implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the District Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Development, in coordination with relevant departments and units, advised the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee to issue guiding documents and implement the program. According to the Decision approving the results of the review of support needs for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025 in the province, Giồng Trôm district has 297 households proposed for support. After the review, the district found 208 houses that met the criteria according to Decision No. 55/QD-BXD dated January 20, 2025, of the Ministry of Construction , while the remaining 89 houses belonging to policy beneficiary households, poor households, and near-poor households did not meet the criteria. The district also established 4 teams to conduct on-site surveys of the 208 households with temporary and dilapidated houses in the communes and towns.
In Tan Thanh commune, according to the decision approving the results of the review of support needs for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025, the commune has 22 houses in need of support for construction and repair for households of war veterans, poor households, near-poor households and households with difficult circumstances, including 20 new houses to be built and 2 houses to be repaired.
According to Nguyen An Toan, Vice Chairman of the Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee: The funding required to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune is quite substantial. In addition to the funds allocated by higher levels, the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune have also decided to mobilize resources themselves to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. For commune officials and civil servants, they will contribute one day's salary, while for households in the commune, they will mobilize 100,000 VND per household. Furthermore, through various connections, the locality will send out lists to solicit support from organizations, individuals, and businesses inside and outside the province to secure the necessary funds to achieve the plan of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune by 2025.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet's household in Tan Phuoc hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, is a disadvantaged family in terms of housing. Recently, her new house, with an area of 52 square meters , has begun construction. The estimated cost is 100 million VND, of which the commune has mobilized Nam Thai Duong One-Member Limited Company to contribute 60 million VND, with the remaining amount contributed by the family. Ms. Tuyet is very happy and moved by this support and concern for the new house. She promises to take good care of the house and focus on working, producing, and developing her family's economy .
At the fourth meeting of the District Steering Committee for the Eradication of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, District Party Secretary Nguyen Thai Binh - Head of the Steering Committee for the program to eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses - requested that localities and units pay attention to the implementation with determination and decisiveness to meet the set deadline, aiming to complete at least 50 houses by April 30, 2025, in Phase 1. Each commune and town should focus on reviewing and supplementing information on the data and conditions of households to report to the Steering Committee. Simultaneously, they should actively mobilize resources and disburse funds correctly according to regulations. Communes and towns should proactively provide specific guidance to households on changing land use purposes for those without rural residential land (residential land).
The units strictly adhere to the schedule of regular and ad hoc reporting as required by the Steering Committee. The Finance and Planning Department and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district promptly allocate funds to units that have completed their dossiers.
| Giồng Trôm District has set a target of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses by the end of 2025. Specifically, the goal is to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiary households before April 30, 2025; for poor and near-poor households before July 27, 2025; and for other eligible households before November 18, 2025, creating conditions for people to have safe and stable housing, contributing to improving the quality of life and sustainable poverty reduction. |
