The Digital Transformation Team of An Hiep Commune Farmers' Association (now Tuong Da) was launched.
In 2013, the Standing Committee of the Farmers' Association of An Hiep commune (now Tuong Da) decided to establish the Hiep Loi Green-Skin Grapefruit Cooperative Group (THT), with 10 members (TV), with a total cultivation area of over 5 hectares. Now, there are 72 members participating, with a total area of 33.2 hectares (from 0.2 - 2 hectares/TV). The group was supported by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to provide 6,000 VietGAP green-skin grapefruit traceability stamps for the members. In August 2024, the Tuong Da Commune Farmers' Association Cooperative Group was established, with 9 core members; organizing regular activities once a quarter.
Head of the Hiep Loi Green-Skin Grapefruit Cooperative, Head of the Community Agricultural Extension Group - Deputy Head of the Tuong Da Commune Farmers' Association's Cooperative, Vuong Thanh Cong shared: "The VietGAP green-skin grapefruit origin tracing stamp creates a premise to change the farming mindset for TV. TV has focused on improving quality, no longer chasing quantity to create products, basic farming in strict pest management and paying attention to providing organic fertilizers and pesticides for crops. Thereby, contributing to increasing information transparency and customer trust in the consumer market, improving the quality as well as the price of the product".
Currently, the Chinese Customs has certified and granted coconut growing area codes to 3 units purchasing products in the raw material area of Tuong Da commune such as: Vina T&T Group Corporation (34 households, total area of 15.4 hectares); Toan Hung Import-Export Company Limited (29 households, total area of 21 hectares) and Mekong Fruit Import-Export Company Limited (35 households, total area of 28.7 hectares). In addition, the Farmers' Association of Tuong Da commune also exploited the benefits of the e-commerce platform Filex.store to implement activities to introduce and connect the consumption of local key agricultural products (green-skinned pomelos and coconuts). Accordingly, more than 500 local farmers and farmers (about 30% of the total) were instructed to access and effectively use this e-commerce platform.
The Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of Tuong Da commune have built and established over 10 Zalo groups to connect local farmers and members in timely and effective information about the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State (especially issues related to agriculture , farmers and rural areas); information on issues such as: market prices, high tides, irrigation and salinity, preferential loan policies from banks that entrust capital to the local Farmers' Association.
In addition, the Tuong Da Commune Farmers' Association also provided instructions on how to install the Green Agricultural Extension platform or Farmer Network for 1,783 local farmers and members (100% of the total number) to directly discuss with leading agricultural experts to resolve difficulties in local crop cultivation. The commune coordinated with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam ( Agribank ) Chau Thanh District Branch to open ATM cards for commune and hamlet association officials as well as local farmers and members in need. Instructed TV of the local farmers and members to install the Agribank E-Mobile Banking application on their smartphones to receive accurate information about the amount of money that traders have purchased their agricultural products, and practically apply the process of "cashless payment" in the community.
The VietGAP green-skin pomelo origin traceability stamp for TV of Hiep Loi Green-skin Pomelo Cooperative has proven the genuine product along with information on the cultivation process and quality assurance. With the general Zalo group, local staff and farmers present practical difficulties or diseases on crops with specific comments and supporting images, and are directly transferred agricultural science and technology by representatives of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center to solve practical problems and bring about practical results.
Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tuong Da Commune, Nguyen Bang Giang, said: Initially, digital transformation is a solid foundation, creating momentum for building the application of social networks to effectively promote a sustainable agricultural economy for local farmers. In particular, members of the Hiep Loi Green-Skin Grapefruit Cooperative were extremely happy when the price of the products of traders increased by 1-2 thousand VND/kg compared to other places in the consumption market, along with affirming the value of the quality of local agricultural products thanks to the VietGAP green-skin grapefruit origin traceability stamp supported for members of the Cooperative.
“In the future, the Farmers' Association of Tuong Da commune (old) will continue to maintain its activities as well as organize regular meetings and expand to recruit new members after merging Chau Thanh town and 3 communes (Phu Tuc, Tan Thach, Tuong Da) into Phu Tuc commune (new). Coordinate with relevant units and agencies to organize "popular education on digital transformation" classes for local students and farmers. And will deploy digital transformation models associated with OCOP products combined with community ecotourism and e-commerce in the locality”.
