The Chiềng Sơn commune police are deploying forces to ensure security and order in the area.

Following the merger, Chiềng Sơn border commune covers an area of over 200 km² and has a population of over 14,000 people, mainly Thái and Mông ethnic minorities, living in 24 villages. Among these, two villages, Pha Luông and Suối Thín, border the Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a total border length of 8.7 km. This area faces many complexities regarding drug trafficking, smuggling, illegal border crossings, and other transnational crimes. To ensure security and order in the area, especially the border region, the commune police have focused on advising the local Party committee and government to strengthen the dissemination of laws; implementing self-governing models from clans and residential areas, linked with the "All People Protect National Security" movement.

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Huy Toan, Deputy Head of the Chieng Son Commune Police, said: The unit has advised on the establishment of 138 "Neighborhood Self-Management" groups; maintaining 24 security and order teams and 24 grassroots mediation teams in the villages. With the motto "going to every alley, knocking on every door," the unit has coordinated with the Border Guard to go to each village to disseminate legal information to the people, encouraging their active participation in the "All People Protect National Security" movement, especially in preventing drug-related crimes; promoting the role of influential people, village elders, and village heads, creating a combined strength to maintain security and order at the grassroots level. In addition, the unit has also coordinated the development of the "Accompanying the Cause" model to support employment and help those who have completed drug rehabilitation reintegrate into the community...

At the same time, they support the village in strengthening the Security and Order Protection Team and 8 self-governing neighborhood groups. Thanks to this, the security and order situation in the village is always maintained, and the people can work and produce with peace of mind."

Since the beginning of the year, the Chiềng Sơn Commune Police have organized nearly 20 legal awareness sessions for over 1,200 people in the villages; organized the signing of fire prevention and fighting commitments for 9 agencies, units, cooperatives and over 750 households engaged in production and business in the area.
