After E10 gasoline (a biofuel blended from 10% ethanol and 90% mineral gasoline) officially replaced RON 95 gasoline on the market, one of the biggest concerns for users was vehicle compatibility and the potential impact on the engine.
Late last month, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested automobile and motorcycle manufacturers to review and publish their compatibility with E10 gasoline. Currently, most manufacturers have published detailed lists of compatible models on their official websites and fan pages.
Toyota Vietnam announced that all of its models manufactured from 1997 to the present can use E10 gasoline. According to the company, this fuel does not affect engine durability, safety levels, or increase maintenance and repair costs compared to regular gasoline.
In fact, three years ago, Toyota Vietnam collaborated with Hanoi University of Technology and the Vietnam Petroleum Corporation to research the feasibility of using E10 gasoline on several car models. For example, test results showed that hybrid vehicles were well-compatible with E10, with fuel consumption reduced by 7.8% compared to RON 95 gasoline, power increased by 2.15%, and emissions were 11% lower.
Similarly, according to Kia Vietnam, all models distributed by Thaco Auto are compatible with E10 bioethanol fuel. Mazda Vietnam also affirms that its current models using internal combustion engines are designed to be compatible with this fuel, ensuring stable operation and safety for users.
According to Hyundai Thanh Cong, the distributor, Hyundai models manufactured from 2005 to the present, including those currently on the market, are compatible with E10 fuel. This fuel type is also suitable for Ford vehicles distributed in Vietnam.

Besides mainstream brands, many new car manufacturers entering the market have also confirmed compatibility with E10. For example, Lynk & Co stated that models 01, 03, 05, 06, 08 EM-P, and 09 can all use this fuel. Geely Vietnam confirmed that all products currently distributed meet the requirements.
The Omoda C5, Omoda C5 SHS-H, Jaecoo J7, and Jaecoo J7 SHS-P models from Omoda & Jaecoo are researched and developed to be compatible with the E10 international standard.
In the European car segment, according to Volkswagen Vietnam, if fuel is used from reputable distribution systems and maintenance is performed on schedule, E10 will not affect engine performance or durability.
Mercedes-Benz Vietnam also confirmed that most of its current models are compatible with E10, except for some older models such as the C 200 CGI (W203), CLK 200 CGI (C209) manufactured between 2001 and 2005, and vehicles using carburetors before 1990. The company recommends that users check the appropriate fuel information printed on the fuel cap or in the owner's manual.
Previously, Mitsubishi and Suzuki Vietnam also released information on which car models should or should not use E10.
