Thus, after years of being mentioned in meetings and commitments from provincial leaders, the project of clearing access to the sea and returning marine space to the community has now become a reality.

Once the demolition is complete, the land will be handed over to the local authorities for management, with priority given to creating a coastal park, community space, and improving the urban landscape.

This is not just the story of a prime piece of land, but also a message about how to treat marine resources: The sea must belong to the community, and cannot be shielded by enclosed concrete structures.

Since 2019, the leaders of Binh Dinh province (now Gia Lai ) have set a goal of relocating three large hotels that dominate the Quy Nhon coastline: Binh Duong, Hai Au, and Hoang Yen.

The provincial leadership's stance at the time was very clear: High-rise buildings along the coast should not be prioritized, the Quy Nhon Bay area should not be fragmented, and people must be able to access the beach anywhere.

Given that many localities had previously experienced situations where tourism and hotel projects blocked access to the sea, the province's policy at the time was considered a difficult choice, even though it received public support.

Relocating a large, operating hotel involves not only urban planning but also business interests, government revenue, and numerous complex legal procedures.

In fact, to demolish the Binh Duong hotel, the province had to spend more than 43 billion VND in compensation and allocate more than 2,800 m² of new land in Ghenh Rang (in Quy Nhon Nam ward) for the business to build a new hotel.

That's a significant price to pay for the determination to return the beach space to the community. But without starting with such difficult decisions, the promises to the people will remain just on paper (as for the Hoang Yen and Hai Au hotels, relocation will be carried out according to a suitable schedule).

It is worth noting that since 2019, the provincial leadership has undergone many changes, especially after Binh Dinh province merged with Gia Lai province. However, this consistent policy has never been neglected or stalled.

This reality shows that when a policy is sound, prioritizes the public interest, and is in line with the people's will, it will inherently possess a powerful vitality that transcends the limitations of each individual's term in office.

In other words, the provincial leadership may change periodically, but the flow of local development and the interests of the people cannot be interrupted. Correct decisions will be continued and implemented by successive generations of leaders.

The demolition of the Binh Duong hotel is therefore not just about freeing up a piece of land, but also a strong affirmation of the "actions speak louder than words" work style.

As the concrete blocks were removed, revealing the vast expanse of the sea, the people's trust in the local Party committee and government was strengthened through concrete actions. Promises to the people, when consistently fulfilled across terms, are the highest measure of the credibility of a government that serves the people.
