Upholding the Party's ideological foundation

The world today is witnessing profound and unpredictable changes. Armed conflicts, strategic competition between major powers, socio-economic crises, climate change, global epidemics, etc. have created comprehensive shocks, challenging the value systems, development models and political systems of many countries.

New ideological trends, both positive and negative, spread strongly through cyberspace, directly impacting the awareness, beliefs and development orientation of each nation.

For Vietnam, this is both an opportunity and a challenge. The biggest challenge is the risk of eroding trust and wavering ideals if there is a lack of courage and steadfastness. In particular, the issue of internal political security is an urgent requirement. Hostile, reactionary, and opportunistic political forces are taking full advantage of loopholes in management and political and ideological activities to promote " peaceful evolution", "self-evolution", and "self-transformation".

In that context, upholding the Party's ideological foundation - Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought - is a vital task. This is the compass for revolutionary action, the beacon that guides the nation to independence, freedom, and happiness; at the same time, it is a solid spiritual support to help the entire Party and people overcome challenges, strengthen confidence, ensure internal political stability, and firmly step on the path to socialism.

Be steadfast and creative in defending ideological foundations

In the vibrant flow of globalization and the 4.0 industrial revolution, the Party's ideological foundation is facing great challenges, both from the outside and from within. These are risks that cannot be ignored, because if we do not clearly identify and have timely solutions, we may face the erosion of trust, wavering ideals and even the distortion and denial of the path of socialist development in Vietnam.

Currently, in the context of a volatile world: geopolitical conflicts, strategic competition between major powers, the rise of populism, extreme nationalism, and socio-economic instability have given rise to many opposing and complex ideologies. In the wave of globalization, Western values, pragmatic lifestyles, and extreme individualism easily penetrate into Vietnamese social life, directly impacting the traditional value system.

Hostile forces take full advantage of cyberspace to promote "peaceful evolution", spread false arguments, distort Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, deny the Party's leadership role, and create the risk of political and social instability if not vigilant and handled promptly.

Not to mention the rapid development of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and social networks, creating a multi-dimensional information environment where truth and falsehood are mixed and difficult to verify. In that context, false information, extremist views, and reactionary ideologies can spread at a dizzying speed, directly impacting social awareness, especially among young people. This is a new and complex challenge, requiring ideological work, theory, and struggle in cyberspace to be both sensitive, steadfast, and creative, to protect the core value system and strengthen social trust.

Besides the great achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation, the country still has limitations: The gap between rich and poor, social injustice, corruption, negativity, and moral degradation among a number of cadres and party members have undermined people's trust. In particular, the situation of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party, the manifestation of wavering and ambiguity about revolutionary ideals are direct threats to internal political security and the Party's strength.

Some cadres and party members are not exemplary, even violating party discipline and state laws, affecting the prestige of the party organization, creating conditions for hostile forces to exploit and distort. At the same time, among a segment of the youth, there is a tendency to be pragmatic, politically indifferent, and far from revolutionary ideals, posing an urgent need to strengthen political and ideological education, foster civic capacity and responsibility.

The above challenges are a test of the Party's steadfastness and creativity. By firmly pursuing the goal of national independence associated with socialism, while at the same time innovating leadership methods, improving the quality of ideological work and tightening internal discipline, our Party is gradually firmly protecting its ideological foundation, maintaining internal political security, and consolidating people's trust in the Party's leadership in the new situation.

Maintain faith and political courage

Our Party has repeatedly emphasized in the 13th Congress Document: “Firmly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; firmly pursue the goal of national independence and socialism.” This is the fundamental principle, the compass for the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, and must not be wavering or ambiguous under any circumstances.

However, steadfastness does not mean dogmatism or stereotypes, but must always be associated with innovation, creativity, and the enrichment and development of theory based on the summary of innovation practices over the past 35 years. It is necessary to continue to research, supplement and clarify scientific arguments on the path to socialism in Vietnam; affirming the correctness and creativity of the development model that our Party and people have chosen.

In the context of globalization, international integration and the 4.0 industrial revolution, theoretical work must convincingly answer newly arising issues: Developing a socialist-oriented market economy associated with international integration; harmoniously handling economic growth and social progress and equity; building a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people; consolidating socialist democracy associated with maintaining political stability and national security.

In addition, ideological work and political education always play a key role in fostering ideals, building trust and consolidating the political capacity of cadres, party members and people. Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle in the spirit of Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle and Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW dated May 18, 2021 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016 of the 12th Politburo "On promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" needs to continue to be implemented extensively and practically, associated with the regular activities of party organizations, as well as with the daily training and cultivation responsibilities of each cadre and party member.

It is necessary to take full advantage of the advantages of digital technology, social networks and multimedia to convey information quickly, vividly and intuitively, thereby widely spreading revolutionary, humanistic and progressive values. At the same time, it is necessary to increase the persuasiveness, closeness and practicality of lectures and theoretical documents, avoiding dry, academic and unrealistic communication.

Especially for the young generation - the force that will continue the revolutionary cause - the work of political and ideological education needs to be associated with the aspiration to develop the country, with humanistic values ​​and the spirit of innovation and creativity. Thereby, not only strengthening the belief in the Party's leadership, but also arousing responsibility, civic consciousness and the ideal of dedication to the Fatherland.

In the context of globalization, hostile forces are constantly promoting the strategy of "peaceful evolution", thoroughly exploiting cyberspace, press, publishing and culture to spread wrong views, distort Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, and deny the leadership role of the Party. Therefore, on October 22, 2018, the Politburo (12th tenure) issued Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW on "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting wrong and hostile views in the new situation".

The resolution clearly states: Firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation and effectively fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints is a fundamental, important and vital content of the Party building and rectification work; it is the top priority task of the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people. and the action programs to implement the resolution are urgent, regular and long-term tasks. One of the important requirements is to build a solid "ideological shield", both in cyberspace and in practical social life. To do that, it is necessary to promote the combined strength of the political system, especially the synchronous participation of ideological, theoretical, internal political security, press and cultural and artistic agencies.

Firmly defending the Party's ideological foundation and effectively combating and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints is a fundamental, important, and vital content of Party building and rectification work; it is the top priority task of the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people. And the action programs to implement the resolution are urgent, regular, and long-term tasks.

Resolution No. 35-NQ/TW on "Strengthening the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile views in the new situation"

Revolutionary press, literature, art and modern media need to become the vanguard on the ideological front, resolutely refuting erroneous and hostile arguments, while strongly affirming and spreading the humanistic, progressive and superior values ​​of the path to socialism in Vietnam. At the same time, we must proactively grasp the internal ideological situation, promptly detect and handle manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", and prevent early and from afar the risk of infiltration and ideological influence from outside. Only by closely linking the struggle to protect the ideological foundation with maintaining internal political security can we protect the purity and strength of the Party, preserve the people's trust and consolidate the strength of national unity.

This is a key task of vital significance to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. Seriously implement the Resolution of the 4th Central Committee (13th tenure) on building and rectifying the Party and the political system and Conclusion No. 21-KL/TW of the 4th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee on promoting building and rectifying the Party and the political system; resolutely prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and Party members who have degraded in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", in parallel with the work of building and rectifying the Party, it is necessary to pay special attention to protecting internal politics, considering this an important line of defense in protecting the ideological foundation.

This work must be closely linked to the close management of cadres and party members, screening, detecting, and preventing early and from afar the risks of being bribed, enticed, planted, or influenced by hostile forces. The Party must build a cadre team that is truly “both red and professional”, with steadfast political qualities, practical capacity, and absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people, and the socialist ideal.

Practice has proven: The purity and strength of the Party is the most solid ideological shield, ensuring internal political security, maintaining people's trust, and consolidating unity of will and action throughout society.

And there is no more convincing proof than the practical achievements of the renovation process. All guidelines, policies and strategies, if implemented effectively and bringing practical benefits to the people, will become the most solid foundation to affirm the correctness of the ideological foundation and the path to socialism in Vietnam.

Therefore, it is necessary to focus on successfully implementing socio-economic development goals, ensuring growth associated with progress, social equity, and improving the quality of life of the people. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain political stability, ensure national defense and security, and protect internal political security, because this is a prerequisite for the country to develop sustainably, without being disrupted by unpredictable fluctuations in the region and the world.

At the same time, the enhancement of Vietnam's international position and prestige, demonstrated through successes in foreign affairs, economic cooperation and comprehensive integration, is also a strong demonstration of the Party's leadership capacity. These results contribute to building trust, arousing national pride, consolidating social consensus and strengthening the flesh-and-blood bond between the Party and the people. Maintaining the Party's ideological foundation is the law of existence and development of the Vietnamese revolution. This is not only a theoretical task but also a vital factor in protecting the longevity of the regime and the destiny of the nation.

The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army must firmly follow the socialist path, under the light of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; at the same time, persistently prevent external threats, resolutely purify the Party, and enhance "political resistance". In the context of complex global changes, the Party's ideological foundation has further demonstrated its enduring vitality, becoming a flag that gathers the faith, intelligence, and strength of great national unity.

Maintaining the ideological foundation must always be associated with strengthening internal political security, because a clean and strong internal party is the "fence" protecting the will, consensus and stability of society. General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "unifying awareness of the high requirements for protecting the Party, protecting internal political security and the responsibility of the internal political security force nationwide in the current period", at the same time clearly defining the responsibility of the internal political security force nationwide in the current period.

This is not only a profound warning but also a strategic orientation, requiring the internal political security force to strongly innovate its thinking and methods of implementing tasks, improve its political capacity, proactiveness and ability to forecast and promptly handle all risks. Protecting internal political security is protecting the Party from within, maintaining the purity and strength of the organization, and at the same time consolidating the people's trust in the Party's leadership. This is a vital and strategic task, directly deciding the longevity of the regime, socio-political stability and the path to socialism of our nation.

The achievements in economic development, social stability, national defense and security consolidation, and international status enhancement, along with the results of firmly protecting the ideological foundation and internal political security, will be the most convincing evidence for the people's trust. It can be affirmed that: Protecting the Party's ideological foundation in conjunction with internal political security is not only an urgent task in the immediate future, but also a long-term strategy, deciding the prosperity and future of the nation and people on the path to socialism.
