Google tightens security on cracked and fraudulent apps
From September 2026, Google requires Android developers to verify their identity if they want to release apps outside the Play Store, stopping cracked and fraudulent apps.

Google has just announced a new policy to improve security on the Android ecosystem. All developers publishing apps outside of the Play Store are required to verify their identity.
This condition applies from September 2026 to all genuine Android devices with Play Services. Google launches Android Developer Console tool to support verification and security stamping.
Users who install apps from Google Play are not affected by this change. Users can still install apps via APK files or third-party app markets, as long as the app is verified. Cracked app groups, modded games or emulators without developers will have a hard time surviving.
