According to Digital Trends , after 21 years of existence, Google has finally solved a persistent Gmail problem, which is the difference in signatures between the web version and the mobile app.
Gmail's Persistent Signature Bug Fixed
From now on, users no longer need to set up a separate signature for the Gmail app on Android. Signatures set up on the web version will automatically sync to the mobile app, saving time and ensuring consistency.
Gmail signatures can now be synced from the web to Android
Users can manage their signature settings via the Settings > See all settings > General > Signature menu on the web version. If the signature is set to appear in new emails and replies, it will automatically appear on both the web and mobile apps.
However, users still face some limitations, including:
- It is not possible to switch between multiple saved signatures in the mobile app.
- The signature set up on the mobile app will override the signature on the web.
- There is no option to disable signatures on emails sent from mobile devices (except to remove the web signature).
- Signatures appear automatically when composing emails on the mobile app, but can be manually deleted.
- This feature currently only applies to Gmail on Android, not the iOS version.
While it's a small change, syncing signatures between the web and mobile apps brings significant convenience to Gmail users. It's a step forward that shows Google is listening and working to improve the user experience.
