To welcome the new year in a warm and joyful way, decorating living and working spaces is an indispensable part, especially as life becomes more modern and prosperous, people pay more attention to the details of Tet. This is the peak season for decorative items. Notably, this year, Vietnamese-made Tet decorations are particularly popular among consumers.

The variety of Tet decorations is quite extensive, attracting many customers to shop.

These days, along Dai Nai Street, stretching to the end of Minh Phuong Ward market in Viet Tri City, the area seems to be adorned with a new look thanks to the vibrant red decorations for Tet (Lunar New Year). Products made from rattan, bamboo, paper, etc., dominate the market this year. In particular, the mascot for the 2025 Year of the Snake is the snake, so many decorative items featuring stylized, cute snake images are being sold in many places, including red envelopes, wallpaper, and hanging decorations.

To meet the needs of the people amidst the challenging economic climate, small traders are proactively seeking out and importing novel, attractive, and affordable items while still ensuring quality. Many products evoke scenes of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) from the past, such as bamboo blinds, carrying poles, and pairs of green banh chung (traditional rice cakes) and banh tet (another type of traditional rice cake), all crafted from styrofoam and covered with vibrant green paper to resemble real products. Accordingly, bamboo blinds, palm blinds, and other decorative blinds cost from 150,000 to 250,000 VND each; bamboo carrying poles cost from 40,000 to 100,000 VND each; bamboo trays cost 20,000 VND each; and conical hats cost from 5,000 VND each, depending on size.

Choosing a wall hanging with the word "Tet" (Vietnamese New Year) written in bright red foam, surrounded by paper apricot and peach blossom decorations, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang from Nong Trang ward, Viet Tri city, said: "Every year I visit decoration shops to buy items to decorate my family's space. I prioritize choosing handcrafted, rustic products made domestically because of their safety, diverse designs, especially flower fans, bamboo trays, and red couplets that express the beauty of the traditional Tet holiday."

Due to the seasonal nature of Tet decorations, sales only begin 20-30 days before Tet. The peak period starts from mid-December until just before Tet. In addition, some organizations, schools, cafes, and restaurants will purchase early in the month to decorate their spaces and create a fresh Tet atmosphere. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, owner of a Tet decoration shop at the Central Market in Viet Tri City, said: This year, prices haven't changed much compared to last year. In fact, some handcrafted items, designed and decorated by shop owners themselves, are even trending downwards to attract customers. For example: Strings of gold coins with the words "Happy New Year," "May all your wishes come true," etc., depending on the size, are priced from 70,000 to 250,000 VND per item; red couplets cost 120,000 to 240,000 VND per pair; firecracker strings cost from 50,000 to 200,000 VND per string, depending on the size; lanterns range from 150,000 to 350,000 VND per pair...

To make it easier for customers to choose and coordinate decorative items harmoniously, or for busy customers, some businesses offer decoration sets priced from 150,000 to 250,000 VND per set, depending on size. Customers buying directly can choose from pre-made sets or purchase them to decorate themselves according to the designs.

This year, artificial flowers for decoration are also a popular choice for Tet (Lunar New Year), especially those typical of spring such as peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, winter cherry blossoms, and primrose buds, priced from 10,000 to 30,000 VND per stem. In addition, there are also silk flowers, glitter flowers, and velvet wire flowers with diverse designs and colors such as magnolias, poinsettias, peonies, chrysanthemums, camellias, and dahlias, priced from 5,000 to 30,000 VND per flower, depending on size.

Besides traditional channels, e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop are currently also bustling with Tet decorations. These platforms have improved service quality and launched many attractive promotional programs, thus attracting a large number of customers.
