Soc Trang province is one of the localities heavily affected by heatwaves and saltwater intrusion in recent years. Therefore, Colonel Pham Quoc Viet directed the entire provincial police force to urgently and seriously implement the directives of the Ministry of Public Security ; the police in districts, towns, and cities should coordinate with local authorities to assess the situation in areas facing difficulties with freshwater and clean water sources in order to plan support and assistance for the people in their daily lives, farming, and livestock raising.

The Deputy Director of the Soc Trang Provincial Police Department instructed mass organizations, especially the Provincial Police Youth Union, to promote a spirit of initiative and volunteerism, gather available water resources, and coordinate with functional units and local police to organize flexible water transportation through various means to support the people.
