In the 2025-2026 school year 10th grade entrance exam, Ha Giang chose History - Geography as the third subject, in addition to Math and Literature. Ha Giang is also the first locality in the country to choose History - Geography as the 10th grade entrance exam this year.

Explaining this choice, the Ha Giang Department of Education and Training said: After the Ministry of Education and Training issued the regulations on secondary and high school admissions from 2025, the Department held a meeting, consulted the Provincial People's Committee and decided to choose the third subject as History - Geography. This decision is based on the Ministry's admission regulations and the actual situation of Ha Giang. Because History - Geography is also an important subject and above all, the team of History - Geography teachers in the province ensures quantity and quality, not too different between localities, thereby helping students review and consolidate knowledge better.

In order to achieve high results in the entrance examination, the Departmentof Education and Training has requested schools to proactively implement appropriate review plans to consolidate knowledge for students. Along with that, right after Ha Giang selected History - Geography as the third subject, secondary schools in the province informed students and parents of grade 9 students. At the same time, plans were developed to consolidate knowledge for students, aiming for an effective entrance exam.

Ha Giang's choice of History - Geography as the third subject in the 10th grade entrance exam is based on the actual situation of the locality.

In addition, to ensure the quality of revision for students and in accordance with Circular 29/2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating extra teaching and learning, the Department has directed educational units to plan to ensure effective use of teacher resources and free revision time for students. In addition, the Department will advise and propose the Provincial People's Committee to balance financial support.

This year's 10th grade entrance exam is the first exam for students studying under the 2018 general education program, and is also the first year to apply the new 10th grade entrance exam regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, the 10th grade exam regulations will include 3 subjects: Math, Literature and a third subject/exam selected by the Department of Education and Training. If choosing the third subject, it must be ensured that the same subject is not chosen for more than 3 consecutive years.
