In particular, the number of international visitors reached nearly 500,000, an increase of 21.4%. These figures clearly reflect the sustainable recovery and positive growth momentum of the capital's tourism industry after a difficult period due to the pandemic and global fluctuations.

Golden time to accelerate

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu commented that Hanoi is at a “golden time” to accelerate in terms of the number of visitors and service quality. The city’s continuous introduction of new and unique tourism products not only increases its appeal but also contributes to affirming the capital’s position on the national and regional tourism map.

Hanoi tourism has not only recovered strongly but also achieved remarkable results in the international arena. Hanoi is ranked in the Top 3 most popular destinations globally by TripAdvisor, Top 25 favorite destinations of all time and Top 11 most attractive cities in the world by Time Out Magazine.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that the success in the first half of 2025 is the result of a consistent strategy over the past 5 years. Hanoi has chosen key markets such as China and South Korea, while promoting communication in a focused direction, suitable to the tastes and spending habits of each customer group. Promotional content is carefully developed, implemented systematically, and has a long-term perspective.

An important orientation is to change the structure of tourists, from simply increasing quantity to improving quality. Hanoi especially focuses on attracting long-stay guests, with high spending ability and love to experience local culture and art. According to Ms. Giang, this is the differentiating factor, helping Hanoi increase its competitiveness compared to other cities in the region.

From now until the end of the year, Hanoi will launch a series of new and unique tourism products, notably a group of 20 night tourism products. The program “Tran Vu Bell” at Quan Thanh Temple is a typical example, recreating the spiritual space of ancient Hanoi through the art of light, sound and traditional performances.

Two main cultural tourism routes, including the “South Thang Long Heritage Road” and the “Education Road”, will take visitors to explore the system of relics, ancient villages, communal houses and pagodas associated with the educational history and culture of Thang Long - Hanoi.

Creative space is also fully exploited with unique products such as "Truc Bach Subsidized Street", "Train Car No. 6 - Leng keng di het", tour to explore the Dao traditional medicine village in Mien village (Ba Vi)... to serve the increasing demand for personalization, especially from young people.

Hanoi also takes advantage of the infrastructure system to develop regional tourism corridors. River tourism routes on the Red River and Duong River connecting Hanoi with Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and Hai Duong are gradually being established to form regional tourism corridors. High-quality night cruises such as “S Journey”, “Hoa Phuong Do” (Hanoi - Hai Phong) and the upcoming “Nam Cua O” ship help tourists experience ancient Hanoi in a modern space.

A series of festivals associated with the identity of the capital will take place from now until the end of the year: Hanoi Tourism Festival 2025 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel; Beverage Festival at Thong Nhat Park (August 29 - September 2); 3rd Hanoi Autumn Festival (October 3-5); Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival in Son Tay (November 7-9); Food and Craft Village Tourism Festival - Craft Streets at Trinh Cong Son Walking Street (November 2025).

Promotional activities have also been expanded both domestically and internationally. Hanoi has participated in major events such as ITE Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat Golden Tourism Week, Osaka Expo (Japan), ITB India (Mumbai), IFTM Top Resa (France)... In particular, the Smart Tourism Development Conference scheduled to be held on July 29-30 will be an important occasion for Hanoi to share technology application solutions to personalize tourism experiences and improve management efficiency.

With the initiative from management agencies, Hanoi tourism businesses are accelerating adaptation and product innovation.

Hanoi Tourism Corporation said that the stimulus packages are built into 3 main groups: accommodation - resort, entertainment - recreation and cuisine - culture. These include a tour to the bomb shelter at the Metropole Hotel, heritage and culinary experience combos at Hoa Binh Hotel, MGallery, autumn stay promotions at Thang Long Opera Hotel...

West Lake Water Park offers attractive summer combo packages, combining art performances and cuisine to create a destination for families and teenagers.

Regarding tourism, Hanoi Tourist strongly develops city tours, bicycle tours, night tours, culinary and cultural tours for domestic and international guests staying for a long time.

Notably, the “Back to the Source” product group organized by Captour Club and Hanoi Tourism Association on September 2nd with two key tours: “Journey of Origin” and “Awakening Ba Vi”. These are tours that combine historical - cultural - spiritual experiences, both paying tribute to the past and exploring the depth of Vietnamese culture.

Ms. Thai Thi Thanh Lan, Head of Captour Club, shared: “The Journey of Origins” helps visitors relive the flow of history to understand and appreciate their roots. Meanwhile, “Ba Vi Awakening” encourages visitors to immerse themselves in nature, explore spirituality and regenerate their spirit in a land rich in identity.

Another breakthrough product is the “Nam Cua O Train” developed by the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company. According to Mr. Ha Trong Thang, Deputy General Director of the company, the train is designed in a modern style, integrating a folk art stage (xam, cheo, chau van…), a bar, and a sightseeing space. The train will run 2 trips/day connecting Hanoi - Tu Son (Bac Ninh) and the inner city loop in the evening, bringing a vivid experience of ancient Hanoi in the heart of a modern urban area.

Three strategic pillars: Communication - Promotion - Digital transformation

According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Director of the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism), Hanoi's tourism stimulus activities in 2025 have practical significance, contributing to the general stimulus program of the Vietnam Tourism industry. In which, communication and promotion play an important role in spreading the image of Vietnam in general and the capital Hanoi in particular to international friends.

The Tourism Information Center has vigorously implemented promotional campaigns on the website vietnam.travel and social media platforms of the National Tourism Administration. Particularly at the recent P4G Summit, the unit produced 3 videos promoting the image of Vietnam and the Capital tourism, which were shown on LED electronic screens on many major streets.

Regarding digital transformation, the Center is coordinating with Hanoi to deploy an online - interconnected - multi-modal electronic ticket system at many key relic sites such as the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, Quan Thanh Temple, major museums, etc. This system helps improve the experience and effectively manage the flow of visitors.

Hanoi is gradually integrating new world tourism trends in 2025 such as sustainable tourism, cinema tourism, personalization with artificial intelligence, train travel, etc. into its product ecosystem.

“For Hanoi tourism to develop rapidly, there needs to be close cooperation between management agencies, businesses and the community. The Tourism Information Center is committed to continuing to support Hanoi in communication, promotion, technology application and product development,” Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa affirmed.
