On the afternoon of April 8, at the conference to guide the organization of exams and admissions for the 2025-2026 school year, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that the Department is completing the process of assigning admission targets for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year, with an expected 64% of students entering public grade 10.
"In order to facilitate students and reduce pressure on their families, the Department of Education and Training is trying to increase the percentage of students admitted to grade 10 of public high schools this year from about 64% or more. Thus, the number of students admitted to grade 10 of public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year will increase by about 3% compared to previous years," Mr. Tran The Cuong informed.
According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the reason is that next school year, there will be 4 more high schools, located in Cau Giay, Dong Anh, Thanh Tri and Long Bien, that will enroll students.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi city is expected to have about 127,000 9th grade students registering for the examination for recognition of junior high school graduation; ensuring that 100% of junior high school graduates who wish to continue studying are admitted to high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers and vocational education institutions that recruit junior high school graduates.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, 4 specialized schools in Hanoi will have significant changes in specialized classes. Specifically, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted will open a Japanese specialized class, bringing the total number of specialized subjects to 13 including: Literature, History, Geography, Math, IT, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English, French, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
Similarly, Chu Van An High School also opened 3 more specialized foreign language classes: Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Previously, this school only specialized in English and French.
Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted maintains the current number of specialized classes. Son Tay High School for the Gifted eliminates the French specialized class, keeping only one specialized foreign language, English.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi is expected to have about 127,000 9th graders register for the secondary school graduation recognition exam. According to the plan, on April 18, educational institutions will collect application forms for admission to grade 10 high school, collect and check students' direct admission application files; and complete the issuance of student codes and passwords to 9th graders. |
