Departing from Hoa Lac airport on a day when the 916th Air Regiment (371st Division) was conducting a search and rescue training flight, the reporter had the special opportunity to work aboard a Mi-171 helicopter. From here, a completely different and breathtaking perspective of the western region of the capital was revealed.

Helicopters from the 916th Regiment take off, beginning a training flight over the skies of North Vietnam.
Through the round windows of the helicopter at an altitude of hundreds of meters, western Hanoi unfolds like a peaceful, expansive painting. Golden rice fields intertwine with prosperous residential areas, sparkling lakes reflect the sunlight, and distant mountain ranges stretch into the distance.

Free from smog and noise, western Hanoi possesses a peaceful and tranquil beauty thanks to the golden rice paddies that stretch across the villages.
The majestic aircraft glided over the areas of Thach That, Quoc Oai, and Chuong My districts before heading towards the Mieu Mon area. Amidst this vast green landscape, modern transportation routes stand out as striking features, clearly reflecting the rapid development and transformation of this gateway to the capital.

From a height of hundreds of meters in the helicopter's cockpit, the roar of the engine suddenly fades into the background, giving way to awe at the breathtaking natural scenery.

The stretches of ripening rice paddies crisscrossing the villages create a picture of western Hanoi that is incredibly peaceful and tranquil, completely separate from the noise and pollution of the city.
Behind those peaceful and romantic scenes lies the intense concentration of the flight crew. For the pilots of Regiment 916, each search and rescue training flight is not just a duty, but also carries a sacred meaning.

The brilliant golden sunlight of the harvest season shines down on the fields, where vibrant green and golden hues blend together, brimming with life.

Patches of vibrant green and golden yellow rice fields intertwine, creating a "Sea of Gold" under the brilliant sunlight of the harvest season.

Besides the plains, the western landscape is further enhanced by the undulating, overlapping mountain ranges that appear and disappear on the horizon.
A Lieutenant Colonel, the chief pilot, shared amidst the roar of the helicopter's engines: "Every time I fly over this land, my feelings remain as strong as the first day. Looking down from above, seeing the peaceful villages and the newly opened, wide roads, we become even more aware of our responsibility. Maintaining a firm grip on the controls and successfully completing rescue training is to protect the peace and the lush greenery of our homeland."

As the roar of the engine faded into the distance, it gave way to the breathtaking natural scenery.
For these pilots, the beauty of the landscape seen from the cockpit is a tremendous source of motivation. After hours of tension, facing turbulent air currents or complex weather conditions, the greatest reward for a pilot is being able to gaze upon peaceful villages below.
