Hanoi turns cold, only 19-20 degrees Celsius

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning, October 23, a layer of cold air has intensified in the North, intensifying the thin cold air that has been flowing down since October 19, causing many places to turn colder than the previous days, and mountainous areas to turn cold.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said the new cold air mass has caused strong northeast winds, cloudy skies, and light rain in Hanoi and the Northern Delta.

In Hanoi, from the night of October 22 to the morning of October 23, there was light rain and strong north winds, causing the temperature to drop rapidly.

Early this morning, many people in the capital had to wear thicker warm clothes when going out, rush hour traffic at the gateways was affected by slippery roads and cold wind. The temperature in the central area of ​​Hanoi such as Hoan Kiem was only 19 degrees Celsius at 7 am.

Temperature measuring stations in the Northern Delta such as Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh), Phu Ly (Ninh Binh), Hai Duong (Hai Phong)... are all at 18-19 degrees Celsius.

In mountainous areas, the temperature is clearly lower, for example at 7am this morning at To Hieu station (Son La) it was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, while at Tan Phong station ( Lai Chau ) it was only 14 degrees Celsius.

According to meteorologists, the weather in the North today is clearly divided into two halves. The Northwestern region such as Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang has dry weather, light sunshine, cold at night and early morning due to high terrain but warms up quickly during the day. The rest of the North, including Hanoi, is directly affected by cold air and wind convergence, so the weather is cloudy, with light rain, low temperatures all day.

Cold air also affects the Central region when storm No. 12 has weakened into a low pressure area, the circulation combined with the cold air mass creates a strong wind convergence area. Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces have light rain, especially on the coast of Nghe An, rainfall has increased. From Ha Tinh to Da Nang, rain will increase this afternoon and tonight, and may last for many days to come.

Meteorological experts say that tomorrow, October 24, the cold air will continue to maintain its intensity but then gradually weaken. The temperature in the North will increase slightly from October 25 onwards, the weather will return to a cooler, more pleasant state after the first cold spell of the season.
