It is known that at around 6am on August 17, in a rented room in Tay Ninh , the father (who did not live with his wife and children) poured gasoline all over the bedroom on the first floor, then set it on fire. The fire flared up fiercely, causing serious injuries to the whole family. Relatives quickly took the two children to the City Children's Hospital for emergency treatment.

The condition of the two children when admitted to the hospital was extremely serious. The 5-year-old boy: Second- and third-degree burns covered 70-75% of his body, including his head, face, neck, torso, genitals, limbs, along with respiratory burns and sepsis. The child was in hypovolemic shock, with his entire body stiff and swollen, his fingertips and toes blackened, his pulse 175 times/minute weak, requiring a ventilator and continuous anti-shock fluid replacement.
13-year-old girl: II-III degree burns about 45-50% of body, severe swelling, exposed conjunctiva, signs of burn infection.
It is known that the two sisters were living with their mother after their parents' divorce, suddenly becoming victims of a cruel act caused by their father.
