How did those two female students who scored 10 in literature study?

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, only two students nationwide scored 10 points in Literature. Both are female, one from Nam Dinh and one from Dong Thap .

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of July 17th, Pham Quynh Anh (a student in class 12A1 at My Tho High School, Yen Yen district, Nam Dinh province) said she was surprised, happy, and moved to be one of only two candidates nationwide to achieve a perfect score of 10 in Literature in the 2024 high school graduation exam.

"Around 8 a.m. this morning, while I was checking my exam results, my friends messaged me saying they thought I got a perfect 10 in Literature. I was nervous, but when I checked my score, it wasn't that high. I double-checked and realized they had entered the wrong registration number. After checking the correct registration number, I saw I got a perfect 10 in Literature, which was a huge surprise and made me so happy," Quỳnh Anh recounted.

According to Quynh Anh, before the graduation exam, she set a goal of getting over 9 points in Literature.

During class review sessions, the teacher guides students on how to approach the questions, how to solve problems, and how to write the best and most creative answers... The teacher further divides these methods into smaller sub-strategies.

"I didn't attend any extra classes; I only studied in class and on my own at home. On the graduation exam day, I wrote 12 pages of literature paper. I finished the exam five minutes before the end of the time limit and used that time to review my answers," Quỳnh Anh said.

According to Quynh Anh, after learning she got a perfect score in Literature, she informed her father, but her mother was at work and couldn't text her yet: "Dad was happy and congratulated me, but he was also a little disappointed and encouraged me because I didn't achieve the score I had initially set for Math."

Besides the perfect score of 10 in Literature, the female student's scores in other subjects were: Math 7.8; History 8.5; Geography 9.25; Civic Education 9; and English 8.4. The total admission score for the C00 group was 27.75 points.

Quynh Anh also said that she was accepted into her first-choice program, the Foreign Trade University, through the early combined admissions method.

According to Mr. Ha Van Hai, the principal of My Tho High School, Quynh Anh was an all-around excellent student throughout her three years of high school. In the provincial-level excellent student competitions in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, Quynh Anh won third and second prizes in literature. The female student is considered to have excellent thinking skills and abilities; her essays explain issues clearly, coherently, and profoundly.

Besides Quynh Anh's perfect score of 10, Mr. Hai said that in 2019, the school also had only one student nationwide who achieved a perfect score of 10 in Literature.

Meanwhile, Huynh Hong Nhu (Chu Van An High School, Hong Ngu City, Dong Thap Province) said she burst into tears when she learned she scored 10 in Literature in the 2024 high school graduation exam.

"I focus on studying all subjects equally, with English being the most intensive because I'm on the provincial-level gifted student team. I also dedicate time to literature and mathematics, trying to achieve the best possible balance."

"I've been accepted into my first choice, the Investment Economics program at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. I'll keep my original choice and think more about the Commercial Economics program," Hong Nhu said.

Mr. Duong Tan Si, principal of Chu Van An High School (Hong Ngu City, Dong Thap Province), said the school was very happy to have a student score 10 in Literature for the first time in the graduation exam. The school also had several students who scored 9 and 9.5 in Literature.

Hong Nhu, in particular, was an excellent student in literature in middle school, and in high school she studied both literature and English simultaneously. In the 2023-2024 school year, Nhu won third prize in the provincial-level English competition for gifted students.
