Hai Phong aims to become a "drug-free city".

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On the first working day of the Hai Phong City Party Congress, delegates focused their discussions on solutions to implement the five strategic breakthroughs and the goal of building Hai Phong into a drug-free city.

On September 26th, the First Congress of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, for the 2025-2030 term, elected a Presidium of 15 members and completed many important tasks.

During the morning session, the Congress elected the Presidium, which included City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau, the Deputy City Party Secretaries, and leaders of the City People's Council, City People's Committee, and City Fatherland Front Committee.

The Congress also elected the Secretariat, the Credentials Committee, and approved the program, rules, and regulations for its operation.

The congress was attended by 445 delegates, representing more than 243,000 party members across the city. The delegates focused their discussions on solutions to implement the five strategic breakthroughs and the goal of building Hai Phong into a drug-free city.

In the afternoon, the Congress heard the Report on the Verification of Delegates' Credentials, the Report summarizing the opinions on the documents, and conducted 12 presentations in the hall. The contributions included many specific solutions for the city's development goals in the 2025-2030 period.

According to the report, of the 445 delegates attending the Congress, nearly 79% were male and over 21% were female; the majority were aged 41-60. They had high professional qualifications, with 41 PhDs, 358 Master's degrees, and 46 Bachelor's degrees; over 96% had Bachelor's or advanced level political theory qualifications.

Delegates came from various fields: Party building accounted for over 56%, government 36%, and the remainder were from the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, armed forces, and the economy /business sector.

The Hai Phong City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term will continue its work in the coming days.
