On May 9th, Hai Phong city launched the first phase of a free health check-up and disease screening program for people aged 60 and above. The program aims to detect chronic diseases early, create health records, and improve the quality of care for the elderly in the context of an increasingly aging population.

The regular health check-up program in Tien Lang commune has attracted a large number of elderly people to visit and receive examinations.
At the Tien Lang Commune Health Station (Hai Phong) this morning, 145 elderly people in the area received free health check-ups, prioritizing policy beneficiaries, poor and near-poor households, lonely individuals; people aged 80 and above, and those who had never had a regular health check-up.
Participants received clinical examinations, electrocardiograms, abdominal ultrasounds, capillary blood glucose tests, consultations, and free nutritional supplements. The program was positively received by the elderly because it saved them time and money and allowed them to participate independently without needing family members to transport them.
Ms. Luu Thi Mau (70 years old, Dong Cau village, Tien Lang commune) shared: "I rarely go for regular health checkups, usually only once every few years. Today, during the checkup, the doctor discovered I have a health problem and advised me to go to the hospital for a more in-depth examination. I am very happy because the checkup was free, and I was able to go by myself without needing my children or grandchildren to take me."

From early morning, elderly people in Tien Lang arrived at the health station, ready for their free routine health check-up.

Elderly people receive advice and guidance from healthcare professionals on how to take care of their health.

Population collaborators visit households to inquire about health care, provide health care advice, and disseminate information on disease prevention for the elderly in the area.
After the check-up, each elderly person was assigned a separate health record. The Tien Lang Commune Health Station compiled a list of people with illnesses and high-risk cases to monitor and manage chronic diseases periodically in the locality. Simultaneously, volunteer teams visited households to inquire about health care, provide health advice, disseminate information on disease prevention, and remind people to maintain a healthy lifestyle and undergo regular health check-ups for early disease detection.
