This is an activity of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha within the framework of the working program of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to attend the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly and official visit to Malaysia.
GHAS 2025 is also the most important event in the series of activities to promote and connect cooperation on Halal of the Malaysia International Halal Exhibition 2025 (MIHAS 2025).
5 priorities for international cooperation to develop the Halal industry
In his opening speech at the Conference, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Malaysian leaders emphasized the role of the Halal industry in the world economy ; assessed that Halal is becoming a global trade standard, contributing to the fight against protectionism and conflicts, while opening up opportunities for developing countries to participate more deeply in the supply chain.

Emphasizing that Malaysia is not only a supplier but also a “standard, system and bridge” to make Halal the foundation for ethical, sustainable and inclusive trade, Malaysian leaders called for enhanced South-South cooperation, including in the Halal sector, and repositioned Halal as a trust-based, transparent and fair trading framework that transcends geographical and religious boundaries.
Speaking to delegates at the opening session of GHAS 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the important role of the Halal industry in the 21st century with the scale of the global Halal economy expected to reach 10,000 billion USD by 2028.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the initiative of the Malaysian Government in organizing MIHAS, a forum that not only creates a space for connecting countries, businesses and global partners, promoting trade and investment in the Halal sector, but also promotes sustainable and inclusive development, spreading humanistic values, sustainability and quality standards of the Halal industry in the world.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that Vietnam considers developing the Halal industry a new and important direction to promote new growth drivers.

With the hope that Halal will be a "new bridge, new driving force" in Vietnam's trade and investment cooperation with Muslim countries and communities, the Deputy Prime Minister conveyed five messages on international cooperation priorities to develop Vietnam's Halal industry, including: (i) promoting negotiations, signing and mutual recognition of Halal certification; (ii) increasing investment in Halal fields such as agriculture, tourism, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and supporting industries; (iii) facilitating the granting of Halal certification for Vietnamese products to participate in the global supply chain; (iv) sharing experiences, providing legal, technical, training and human resources support for the Halal industry; (v) supporting the promotion of Vietnamese products and services in the global Halal market.

At the meetings, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha congratulated Malaysia on successfully organizing the International Halal Exhibition and wished to promote cooperation with Malaysia in the Halal field through sharing experiences in building and implementing policies and strategies for developing the Halal industry and services; cooperating in improving the capacity of certification organizations and businesses in the Halal field; cooperating in investment in production, developing the Halal supply chain, investing in developing the Halal ecosystem and Halal industrial parks.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the two sides have a lot of potential for cooperation in the Halal field, and assigned Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Halal, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to work immediately with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to discuss specific details.
Minister of the Government Office for Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Na'im bin Haji Mokhtar said he will visit Vietnam next week to promote Halal cooperation between the two countries.

Also at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited the booths of Vietnamese enterprises participating in the MIHAS 2025 Exhibition. Nearly 30 Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of consumer goods, agricultural products, processed foods, handicrafts, cosmetics, and fashion participated in the exhibition.
The Deputy Prime Minister encouraged and highly appreciated the businesses participating in the exhibition, believing that this is a positive first step for the Vietnamese business community to increasingly penetrate more effectively into global Halal markets.

Since its inception, MIHAS has established itself as the world’s leading trade platform for the Halal industry. MIHAS is not only a platform for businesses to connect, but also a driving force for growth and innovation in the global Halal economy. In 2024, MIHAS recorded a trading volume of RM4.3 billion (US$1.02 billion).

MIHAS 2025, with the theme "The Pinnacle of Halal Excellence", focuses specifically on innovation and sustainable development, key factors to ensure stable growth, adaptability and competitiveness of the Halal industry. Booths participating in the MIHAS 2025 exhibition focus on introducing and promoting 14 main industries including: Food, beverages, Halal ingredients, fashion, media, entertainment, e-commerce, finance, cosmetics, tourism, etc. More than 2,300 booths from 45 countries participated in the MIHAS Exhibition./.
