Fox News quoted a senior Trump administration official as saying on September 22 that Hamas had drafted a letter to US President Donald Trump, asking the White House boss to ensure a 60-day ceasefire (between Israel and Hamas) in exchange for the immediate release of half of the hostages being held in Gaza.

A source close to the matter confirmed the information to The Times of Israel . It is not clear whether the letter mentions the disarmament of Hamas – a demand Israel has rejected.

President Trump has previously called on Hamas to release all hostages it took in its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Last week, while visiting Britain, President Trump stressed that he wanted the hostages released "right now".

In a post on Truth Social earlier this month, President Trump issued a “final warning” to Hamas.

"Everybody wants the hostages to come home. Everybody wants this war to end. Israel has accepted my terms. It's time for Hamas to accept too. This is my final warning and there will be no more," President Trump declared on September 7.

Previously, in a post on Truth Social on March 5, President Trump also gave a "final warning".

"Release all hostages now, or it's over (for Hamas)," Mr. Trump warned at the time.
