BYD's Yangwang brand has launched the U9 Xtreme, a track-focused electric supercar, previously known as the Yangwang U9 Track Edition. The car was tested at Germany's Papenburg Motor Test Center in September 2025 with a top speed of 496.22 km/h (308.4 mph).

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme has become the fastest production car ever recorded. Yangwang also posted a lap time of 6:59.157 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, beating the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's record of 7:04.957 to become the fastest car on the circuit. BYD will produce a limited run of 30 U9 Xtreme units for the global market.

The U9 Xtreme has already beaten the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+'s 490.5km/h record. So far, Koenigsegg's Jesko Absolut has only simulated figures beyond 500km/h, although it did set the 0-400-0km/h record in August 2025.

As for the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, it's based on the current U9 and features aerodynamic bits, including a larger carbon fiber front splitter, a dual-channel hood, and a rear wing with a prominent swan-neck pad.

The car measures 4,991mm long, 2,029mm wide and 1,351mm high, with a 2,900mm wheelbase. It rides on 20-inch 5-spoke rims with GitiSport e·Gtr2 Pro semi-slick tires, jointly developed with China's Giti for speeds up to 500km/h. The braking system is handled by titanium brake calipers and upgraded carbon ceramic brake discs.

At the rear, the U9 Xtreme is equipped with a two-layer diffuser that creates a ground effect, multi-layer rear glass and separate taillights connected by the Yangwang logo.

The interior features a fully digital instrument cluster, a T-shaped center console with a vertical touchscreen, and extensive use of carbon fiber and Alcantara. Racing-style seats and a multi-function steering wheel further emphasize the focus on performance.
11-5517.jpg
Power comes from a four-motor system using BYD's Yi Sifang system, which operates on a 1,200V silicon carbide platform. Each motor delivers 555kW of power, combining to produce a total output of 2,220kW (nearly 3,000hp). The system provides a power-to-weight ratio of 1,217ps/tonne.
10-7018.jpg
Torque vectoring occurs more than 100 times per second, distributing power independently to each wheel. The Yangwang U9 Xtreme chassis integrates BYD's DiSus-X active body control system, which uses a dual-valve suspension system to adjust the vertical motion of the wheels in real time, enhancing traction during acceleration, braking and cornering.

The U9 Xtreme also debuts a race-grade lithium iron phosphate Blade battery with a dual-layer cooling system, capable of discharging at 30°C for improved thermal management.
