The Ministry of Construction has recently granted an air transport business license to Sun Phu Quoc Company Limited, brand name Sun PhuQuoc Airways. The airline plans to open ticket sales in October and conduct its first commercial flight in November.
Previously, the Prime Minister approved the investment policy of the project to establish Sun PhuQuoc Airways with an operating period of 50 years, an investment scale of VND2,500 billion, of which the investor's capital contribution is VND1,000 billion.
The airline's main operating center (base airport) is located at Van Don International Airport, Quang Ninh Province, invested and developed by Sun Group Corporation, with a total investment of 2,500 billion VND. The airline is allowed to operate a traditional business model - full service - high quality, combined with a mixed charter flight model.
With Phu Quoc as the focal point, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will connect flights from Phu Quoc to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and other key cities.

For the international market, Sun PhuQuoc Airways aims to connect Phu Quoc with major cities and leading tourist centers in Asia, including destinations in Japan, Korea, China and several other potential markets in the region.
The airline also plans to expand its flight network to potential tourism markets that have not yet been exploited with direct flights such as Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia.
In the initial phase, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will use narrow-body aircraft such as Airbus A320, A321, A321 Neo suitable for both domestic and medium-range international flights.
According to the plan announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is expected to operate 3 aircraft at the time of starting operations (quarter IV/2025) and the number of aircraft will reach 6 by 2026. By 2030, the number of aircraft of the company will reach 31, in accordance with the fleet size approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 979/QD-TTg on approving the investment policy and approving the investor.
On the morning of August 10, Sun PhuQuoc Airways welcomed the first Airbus A321NX aircraft at Phu Quoc airport. This is the first of a series of 8 aircraft that the airline will receive and operate in 2025. The aircraft was newly manufactured at Airbus's factory in Hamburg (Germany).
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the aviation market still has a lot of room for development and strong recovery, especially in the international market. Therefore, the addition of new airlines will diversify aviation products and services, giving passengers more choices, promoting market development, in line with the general trend of the region and the world, creating conditions for the development of the private economy.
